so long as young people generally don't care to vote, people who have no stake in the future will be the only choices.

Yes, on my personal computer. The UI isn't the best but so far I have been able to handle just about anything I throw at it competently. I definitely prefer Microsoft office which is on my work issued PC. Not a fan of Google docs unless im collaborating on something with friends.

Typically we break into smaller groups to play gta v or golf with your friends. But we have a valheim server we chill on and this week we all got really into battle bits

touchscreens becoming so good so quick blew my mind. Seeing how quick it went from clunky stylus palm pilots to fluid smartphones gave me whiplash.

maybe they really didn't need to, a lot of subs caved at the first mention of replacing mods. Will be interesting to see if the remaining major subs will take a volley from the admins.

I just tell people that each instance is like a country and users are able to move and interact with each other. Some countries revoke passport rights to/from other countries.

I think it's okay if it doesn't happen overnight. As long as the instances of the Verse get more developed and users remain engaged, more will come. Reddit will decay into Facebook lite and other forums will thrive.

[–] scyrp@kbin.social 4 points 1 year ago

there's no pressure my dude, ultimately it's just an internet forum. Everyone adding their own content, even shit posting, helps the verse get better. Don't be afraid to start your own mag and spread your ideal. build and they shall come.

Demagoguery, something that Socrates critiqued as a product of democratic systems.

Socrates imagined an election between a doctor and a candy store owner. The doctor would tell the populace what they didn’t want to hear.
As Socrates described it, the candy store owner would say of the physician that he works many evils on you. He hurts you, gives you bitter potions, tells you not to eat and drink whatever you like. What fun is that? The candy store owner, however, would offer sweets and tasty things. He would appeal to what people wanted, not what they needed. He would provide easy and popular answers to all their difficult problems

unfortunately we have too many candy store politicians across the globe.
