China is subsidizing the transition away from fossil fuels which greatly accelerate climate change and if not taken seriously immediately will lead to the deaths of tens of not hundreds of millions in the next few decades. The speed at which this transition occurs is vital in saving human lives and preventing infrastructure losses previously unfathomable. Their actions towards green energy adoption both domestically and abroad are one of the few things that provide any sense of hope about a better renewable future.

On the other hand: BUT AT WHAT COST

For anyone reading this who it scares off, by job hopping 3 times in my first 5 years of employment post-college I just under tripled my salary.

Move early move often and keep interviewing while you have a job as it lets you be the pickiest in choosing where you'll have to spend your working hours.

Companies overwhelmingly have no loyalty to you whatsoever (how I wish I was in a co-op so this wouldn't be so), so aggressively pit them against eachother regarding your labor.

I'm glad blue sky exists for two reasons:

  1. It will likely contribute to more Elon meltdowns
  2. It acts as a containment zone for celebrity and brand worship that's marginally less bad than twitter

Yes- the court is an illegitimate anti-democratic institution and the long-term goal should be its abolishment.

It is the final tool of the American oligarchs to prevent needed structural change in the country.

Anything to highlight this is a good thing. Playing ping-pong with court expansion would be great to accelerate its necessary demise.

Preventing the updates is also another benefit of airplane mode if youre planning to jailbreak the kindle eventually.

Strictly because the tooling doesn't exist in an easy enough way to go from blu-ray -> full-sbs encode at this point.

I'm constrained by knowledge to only use tools like BD3D2MK3D to create full-sbs encode in x265 which I watch in VR.

If AV1 were an option in this tool I'd consider it, but the additional encoding time might not be worth it to me as the person actually encoding the files.

If anyone has knowledge of F-SBS or F-OU AV1 content or tooling please let me know as I'd be glad to learn.

AV1 when available for everything other than 3d content which is ideally x265.

Honestly it blows my mind that x264 is still as popular as it is.

Portal: Reloaded

I think it's the single best puzzle game ever created and the fact that it's a free Portal 2 mod is astounding.

Do you have access to a computer that could either play ports of those games or is strong enough to emulate those games?

This would be my answer to that question

In fact I'd come up with a list of all the exclusives that you're interested in playing and use that in your reasoning as well.

I've checked rutracker's 3d section, torrentgalaxy, 1337x, TL, and various qBittorrent search plugins but haven't managed to find it.

If it helps people narrow it down, the 3D blu-ray released on June 20th.

I make my own full-sbs 3d encodes so ideally I'm looking for the source.

I've been surprised how difficult this has been to locate, so if anyone can point me in the right direction I'd be extremely appreciative.

The federated decentralized nature of Lemmy and it being open-source means that when this happens the users laugh at whoever paid for an instance and celebrate whoever got the bag and all migrate to a new instance.

See AdBlock -> AdBlock + -> Ublock -> Unlock Origin for a story of idiot capitalists donating massive sums of money only to buy a product that is quite literally drop-in replaceable by design... and Lemmy makes this process even easier than that.
