There's also the fact that any smart-TV's software will inevitably stop being updated and go out of date anyway, as new services emerge and old ones close up shop. I bet manufacturers are using that as a sort of planned obsolescence.

@ailiphilia I don't know what worries me more about this, that they did that or that they collected so much data that it was possible to do that
