I just use my kindle as intended: using Calibre's "email" button to load 100% legally obtained books via it's _______@kindle.com address.

IDGAF. If they start yanking books off my device I'll put it in airplane mode.

"Hey, should we use any of the ready to go setups the right-to-die people have put considerable thought in to?"

"No, let's just wing it with shit we already have. What could go wrong?"

"Tricky" means "ethical issues of someone who took an oath to heal and save lives doing the opposite."

There are jobs where it's not feasible or practical to pay an actual human to do.

Human translators exist and are far superior to machine translators. Do you hire one every time you need something translated in a casual setting, or do you use something Google translate? LLMs are the reason modern machine translation is is infinitely better than it was a few years ago.

One of the major problems with LLMs is it's a "boom". People are rightfully soured on them as a concept because jackasses trying to make money lie about their capabilities and utility -- never mind the ethics of obtaining the datasets used to train them.

They're absolutely limited, flawed, and there are better solutions for most problems ... but beyond the bullshit LLMs are a useful tool for some problems and they're not going away.

I somehow got on the Trump campaign's email list and periodically get garbage from them. I received the following email less than 4 hours after it happened.

ALERT FROM TRUMP My resolve is only stronger after another attempt on my life! I will never slow down. I will never give up. I WILL NEVER SURRENDER! I thank God every day for having supporters like you on my side. On November 5th, WE WILL MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN! MAGA

-- followed by suggested donation amounts ranging from $24 to $3300. The grift never ends.

One: that comment you deleted where you put the dollar sign ($) in the wrong spot -- nobody does that.

Two: your "American English" (while excellent) sounds ... off, when read aloud.

Three: you can read the following Shibboleth aloud and you'll have no idea what it means:

ooh day ooh yay eek spay ig pay at in lay?

Lol. Yeah, exclude ~~opposing opinions~~ obnoxious, idiotic noise, go live in your liberal echo chamber

FTFY

Also, why do you have such a hardon for Trump when you aren't an American?

So it is a racial slur, thanks for the confirmation

Yes, the notoriously racially homogeneous nation of Russia. Clearly it's a race thing, and not a nationality thing. And clearly they're talking about the entire ethnic "russian" population -- not the state itself and its leadership.

No, they're in c/vegan

I didn't disagree with that part. Doing what you suggested and using the "vape detectors" aren't mutually exclusive.

Considering they are only harming themselves

Again, we're talking about actual children. You know: people that have yet to mentally develop to the point where they can make fully informed decisions on everything and sometimes have to be "coerced" by reasonable adults into doing so.

Daler Mehndi's 1998 music video, in which the singer performs with 4 "clones" of himself. "Mehndi claims his music was often criticized for only being popular due to the abundance of beautiful, dancing women in his videos The singer responded by creating a video that featured nobody but himself." Apparently he wasn't wrong and the song went on to become the "biggest indi-pop hit at the time".

The video caught the attention of the wider internet around 2006. The catchy song, dated visual effects, and absurdity of the "clones" fueled its spread.

On a less fun note: in 2018 the singer and his brother Shamsar were convicted of human trafficking, accused of "cheating people of large sums of money by falsely promising to take them to America" and "illegally sending people abroad as a part of their dance troupes."
