amazing that building, maintaining, and fueling a fleet of airplanes is more cost effective than a few engines, coaches, and track.

yeah, but Kenya can trade the livelihoods of indigenous people for the foreign currencies tourists bring. If the indigenous folks could create this much foreign currency, this wouldn't be a thing.

The Chevy Bolt starts at $26,500

even though it's the most affordable electric car in the US, it's still too much. It's trying to replace the Spark which started at $13,500

I wonder where Kentucky would be if we made a list of the states and then ordered them by the size of the largest solar farm by acres. Maybe #19?

more importantly, this is coal country

A growth rate of 3.5% per year corresponds to a 20yr doubling time.

One study suggested that the reactors could produce more nuclear waste than current systems and that they "will use highly corrosive and pyrophoric fuels and coolants that, following irradiation, will become highly radioactive."

Does anyone mount a network resource with Android using SSHFS? I've tried all the apps on fdroid and couldn't get any of them to work.

I did get Termius from the play store to work, but it's UI is kind of annoying for browsing and is really meant for SFTP. Same for other twin panel managers. I don't necessarily want to copy files from the network resource to my device but i would like to be able to easily view and save to the resource. (like a network mount)

Has anyone done this? Any apps that can do this in a clean way?

Vast’s CSP 3.0 technology, demonstrated at a 1.1MW pilot plant in Jemalong in NSW, uses modular arrays of solar towers and receivers to capture and store energy from the sun and use it provide electricity and heat.

According to the company, correcting the aim of the NSTTF heliostats using its software reduced tracking error to 0.33 mrad, surpassing the project target of less than 1.0 mrad. The software also measured the alignment of the mirror facets to improve beam quality.

Concentrated solar is great because it can collect more of the Sun' energy than PV AND can store it AND doesn't create toxic waste at the end of the life of the reflectors. It's weird that it's so much more expensive than PV.

Although wind and solar proponents still claim costs are falling, the reality is the opposite. Offshore wind developers, especially, are clamoring to renegotiate contracts they signed previously, including guaranteed price adjustments for increasing costs, and relaxing the domestic content requirement so they can claim the additional 10% ITC.

Despite spiraling deficits – almost $2 trillion in the fiscal year that ended this past October – green energy subsidies will be financed with still more government debt. With the increase in interest rates to normal levels, financing costs will soar, adding an estimated $500 to $800 billion to the bill costs, almost as much as the subsidies themselves.

I don't believe this. Green energy is "cheap" and "unlimited" and I cannot be convinced otherwise.

Chevron’s ambitious plans reflect its optimistic outlook on the industry and its confidence in the future of oil and natural gas. The $14 billion investment will be focused on various projects worldwide, including exploration, drilling, and infrastructure development. These projects will contribute to Chevron’s overall production capacity and help it secure its position as a leading player in the energy sector.

Chevron seems to believe oil and gas will continue to be profitable despite others' investing in renewables.

The company plans to add seven trains a week on the coal line by mid-December, from 21 a week. Another seven would be added by March, bringing the total to 35 a week.

Transnet is struggling to haul bulk commodities to ports due to a shortage of locomotives and spares, as well as cable theft and vandalism to infrastructure.

This is costing mineral exporters billions of rand in potential export revenues and mining groups have resorted to trucking coal to Richards Bay Coal Terminal (RBCT) for shipments to markets including Asia.

South Africa is a mess!

Studies have shown that nuclear power generates electricity without releasing significant amounts of greenhouse gases, making it an attractive option for reducing carbon emissions.

"Studies have shown" makes it sound like this is brand new information. I wonder if this means Germany will make like France,
