Danke!

I'm currently traveling and really enjoying Against the Storm on the deck. Its easy to pop in for twenty minutes or just sink a couple hours into it. Runs super smooth on the deck.

This was my most played game for quite aong time. I can't believe all of the content that was added since I gave up trying to win with 5 boss cells. Maybe its time to try again...

Why would I memorize financial information from a company I left years ago just to share it with random strangers on the internet?

[–] kilgore@feddit.de 2 points 7 months ago

Didn't know that, wild!

It depended on many factors like the size of the venue, length and instrumentation of the piece, also the genre. I can't give you an amount in € off the top of my head how much I earned lol.

Actually GEMA takes a percentage from the big pop musicians to help fund the contemporary/avantgarde composers who would otherwise earn a lot less. There are plenty of things to complain about with GEMA but I think for the most part they do a lot to support smaller, more obscure genres. (I ran a publishing company for contemporary music in Germany for ten years, so I had a lot to do with GEMA)

It works the same way in Germany. If you're playing music in essentially any venue, even just on the radio, you pay a royalties fee. For places that do it everyday there is usually a flat yearly fee. At least here, a good chunk of that money does indeed fund other cultural endeavors.

Das überrascht niemand, glaub ich.

Some stretches do have limits. But even where there are no speed limits there are suggested maximum limits. If you're over that limit and have an accident (that normally might not be deemed your fault) you're more likely to be held liable.

Ich kann mich weder bei feddit.de einloggen noch in anderen Apps. Ist da was kaputt?

Hey Folks!

I've been living abroad for over half my life in a country where tipping is not the norm. At most you would round up. 19€ bill? Here's a 20, keep this change.

Going to the US soon to visit family and the whole idea of tipping makes me nervous. It seems there's a lot of discussion about getting rid of tipping, but I don't know how much has changed in this regard.

The system seems ridiculously unfair, and that extra expense in a country where everything is already so expensive really makes a difference.

So will AITA if I don't tip? Is it really my personal responsibility to make sure my server is paid enough?

I had been thinking about leaving Reddit for months before the API announcement came. I was tired of the toxic content, also tired of being drawn in by it.

I was never a power user, lurked a lot and only posted and commented in a few niche subs. I suppose I can still lurk, but so far I like it here at Lemmy.

My 3rd party app (RedReader) will apparently be allowed to stay for free (due to their high accesibility), but who knows how long that will last.

I deleted my account, didn't bother dealing with a comment deleting script. I just made my reasons very clear and hope they get the message.

Thanks to all who have been involved in creating these federated spaces!

To be clear, I have no problem buying ebooks and do so quite often. But where I live its often hard to find ebooks in my preferred language without resorting to Am*zon, especially when it comes to the more obscure titles.

Now that Zlibrary is gone, where do people go for liberated ebooks?

In the "about" section in the settings there is a link to donate to the development of Jerboa. The link just sends me to a page about donating to the Lemmy project in general. Where can I go to support Jerboa directly?

I'm new to Lemmy, your typical Reddit refugee, and I'm missing some of the more niche subs I followed. I would like to start one or two of those here, but I'm a bit intimidated.

As I understand it, if I start a community I'm also the moderator. What kind of work does that entail?

Can I only create a community on the instance I joined, or can I also create a community elsewhere?

Is there a guide for creating new communities out there, especially for people who don't know much about the technical side of Lemmy?

Thanks!

If I see a "sub" in my feed I can click on it, which takes me to the sub. From there tapping "subscribe" works just fine.

But I can only search for new subs via the web (browse.feddit). Clicking a link there takes me to Jerboa, but not to the sub. Somehow I just can't navigate to a new sub via a weblink, or any other way for that matter, unless that sub just happens to appear in my feed.

Anyone having similar issues?
