I switched to it also because my debian host got out of date and now it's difficult to upgrade and I'm scared to reinstall it. If it was NixOS I would be able to redo the whole thing in a few minutes. So I'm creating / learning how to create a template to roll it out to my other builds.

I just installed NixOS and the repeatability of it is pretty neat. I like the idea of having one file that sets up 90% of any pc going forward. Not sure how often I'll use it, but feels neat.

After thinking for about a year about it I decided to rename the project to πŸš€NetAlertX. This will help prevent confusion about which fork someone is using, and differentiate it from the now stale upstream project. With about 1800 or so commits over the stale project, I thought, this project deserved a new name. It will also remove the confusion about only supporting Raspberry Pi's 😡

On top of the rename, I implemented ✨unlimited icons - just find an SVG you like and use it πŸ˜„.

The rename from PiAlert to NetAlertX should be pretty straightforward and existing setups should work fine, no manual migration steps should be necessary. Still, caution is recommended.

Check this https://github.com/jokob-sk/NetAlertX/issues/633 thread for edge-cases and the guide https://github.com/jokob-sk/NetAlertX/blob/main/docs/MIGRATION.md if you decide to change your docker-compose.

Monitoring your network to check for newly detected devices, or ports and you can get an email, trigger a webhook or other notification services. Check the readme for details πŸ˜‰

Hummm, maybe in the future, but it's a fork so not sure if possible πŸ˜…

Thank you! Glad you like it πŸ‘

A little celebratory post between releases. My docker image reached 0.5mil pulls. Not sure how indicative of the user base, but happy nonetheless ☺

Give it a try: https://github.com/jokob-sk/Pi.Alert

Try tailscale to access services outside of the network, works great for me
