Yeah, I think there is a tipping point between terse and magic. I might grimace a little at the first one, have no comment on the middle two, and definitely comment on the last one. Wrote code like the person troubleshooting it is on-call, mildly hung over, and it's 3am.
I am missing some Internet lore. Can you summarize the first of the volumes? Is it 4chan adjacent?
If I never watch it, did it ever air?
Don't underestimate the latent (and sometimes obvious) thread of eugenics in this country and it's "leadership" class.
Like you said, stenography (hiding meaning in something else) is more important than cryptography. Cryptography only lasts until the lead pipe is swung at your knees.
