Just watched it; I think it was a good movie for a deep study of a unreliable narrator and that external support was gated on playing a role. Fill a roll or fall through the cracks, and lose people's good will, since you no longer are the idea they like.

As a joker follow up movie, it was a massive miss, and probably wasted people's time who went to watch it.

Science is about empiricism, so i would expect scientists to try out the occult from time to time.

Pascal's wager with respect to machinery, maybe the toys don't help, but what if they do?

That is making the assumption that pornography and prostitution only exist because people need food and shelter.

The rich porn stars (they do exist) would be a contradiction to this theory.

Its kind of live action, and you do roleplay whatever you want to be. But yeah I agree it's not the perfect use of the word.

Cyberpunk is a role-playing game in that you have a role to play, but it is not a role-playing game where you determine your own destiny and have significant impact on the outcome.

I don't know if there's better ways to express that thinking, ARPG versus CRPG? But that lacks nuance as well

Nothing but love

It is a visually a nice looking game, clearly put together with love. $15 is a bit much. It's on the rails visual novel, with some interactive mini games to move the story forward.

Okay dragon fucker,

I understand your point, I do not agree with it. Phobia requires a state of mind. Phobia. https://en.m.wiktionary.org/wiki/phobia

Was steam's actions driven by their fear/hate of transsexuals? Clearly not. Therefore this action is not an act of transphobia.

Words have meaning, the written in the dictionary for a reason, bending them for your political advantage may feel good, but it weakens your entire argument.

I've made it as clear as I can.

[–] jet@hackertalks.com 7 points 1 week ago (3 children)

Yes it was a choice. It was not a choice based on people sexuality. You can dislike it, you can move to other platforms, you can pirate. But it wasn't transphobic. They do not care about people's sex organs

Stationary bicycles need support to stop from falling over because they lack gyroscopic stabilization. Right?

If you ride a free bicycle on a treadmill (so both wheels are spinning) will it fall over or stay upright?

If you fall over on a treadmill, does it matter if this treadmill bicycle combo is on a train?

45 minutes: An excellent presentation by Ben bickman. He goes over different life cycles of fat, different biological fat growth scenarios. He discusses how fat cells grow and shrink in different hormonal environments.

Not only is the data fascinating, he's an excellent presenter, being engaging and funny throughout

Near the end of the presentation he covers a N of one case study, where somebody gained weight, under different hormonal regimes. Really fascinating data

On stock aosp, and pixel android, I can auto rotate the phone up, left, or right, but if I turn the phone upside down the screen won't rotate.

Is there a way to enable upside down rotation? I think it would be quite useful.

I.e. When phone is charging, or hanging phone up by a strap, or when using a usb-c device and you want to prop it up on a desk

Is a lighter effective because it's on fire? Or just because it's hot?

If you made a lighter that was just as hot as another lighter, would it work just as well even if it had no fire?

Happy Holidays

A PasswordCard is a credit card-sized card you keep in your wallet, which lets you pick very secure passwords for all your websites, without having to remember them! You just keep them with you, and even if your wallet does get stolen, the thief will still not know your actual passwords.

A very cute idea, well implemented.

Your PasswordCard has a unique grid of random letters and digits on it. The rows have different colors, and the columns different symbols. All you do is remember a combination of a symbol and a color, and then read the letters and digits from there. It couldn't be simpler!

A chain is only as strong as its weakest link. It's far safer to pick secure passwords and write them down, than it is to remember simple and easy to guess passwords. You already protect your wallet very well, and even if it does get stolen the thief will still not know which of the many thousands of possibilities on the card is your password.

I often find myself accidentally following the link of a post when I want to open the post and see the comments, rather than opening the post itself. That's because on my Voyager feed the post image is 95% of the post, and the title is a bit smaller.

Some people may prefer not to engage with the comments, but I would like an optional toggle to make any engagement with the post and the feed open the post itself.

For images, when touching the image makes the image bigger. This is no big deal. I just open the post. But when it opens an external web browser, the friction of going backwards is annoying.

pixel 5A 5G - zombie? (hackertalks.com)
submitted 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago) by jet@hackertalks.com to c/googlepixel@lemmy.world

I have the Pixel 5A 5G. It's been my main phone for 2 years. Love it. Two weeks ago it started to exhibit the well-known motherboard issue where the screen doesn't turn on. I've kept it on my desk since then, massaging it, cooling it, charging it and discharging it. And eventually it turns on for a few minutes and I back up my data and set up a new phone. So far so good.

Today, it turned on again, I double checked everything, and did a factory reset. And now it's working fine. The screens turning on every time....

I don't know if I can trust this device anymore, having the phone just die completely for 2 weeks isn't acceptable. I'm not sure if I have the BGA motherboard issue, where I actually need to get the CPU reballed, or if the factory reset was sufficient....

So now my phone is a zombie...

Anyone else have a similar experience with the 5As? I saw the resolution most people took was sending the phone back to Google, and getting either refurbished model or a pixel 6. But now that it's working that avenues not available to me

Update: the screen died after 5 hours of working, guess I'm now happy that it is infact a hardware issue and not firmware issue.

When scrolling on the main feed, if a post is bigger than the screen height, if you scroll up to view the top of the post sometimes Voyager will reload the entire feed, resulting in a blank screen and 10 to 20 seconds of reload.

Compared to many of the other militaries we’ve looked at, Iran’s force structure and overarching strategy stands out.

From its arsenal of Shah era weapons to its new generation of missiles, in this episode we did a bit deeper into Iran’s military capabilities, limitations, and the industrial capabilities behind them.
