The Mediterranean has a right to defend itself! Are you anti-seamitic?

Not OP but many Linux project I follow, since they don't have many resources, publish their releases through Torrent, a seeebox is fairly cheap (something like €10 a month) and could be easily crowdfunded even for a small project, and isn't a huge expense anyway. And the site could just be a static page, or better yet the magnet link could be aviable on Github for people that want the precompliled binaries instead of the source.

E: did i say something controversial?

Some kind of marketplace like eBay.

Having bought and sold there the rules are quite arbitrary, and their cryptic algorhitm is a nuisance to buyers (you clicked by accident on a stove? You're gonna see a ton of stoves in the recommended for a while!) and periodically harms sellers (if you don't post daily and basically make it your day job, good luck making money!)

a federated alternative, with different instances for various interests and categories, meta-categories even and so on. Maybe regional instances like we have on here, one for the EU (quite convenient to ship and receive packages from inside of it, no customs wasting time and money) one for North America, one for East Asia, etc. With one being able to purchase from all of them.

Federation would also ensure that rules are properly enforced without abuses or other malpractices like eBay does (did you know eBay shipped a pig head to somebody who publicly criticized them?) since those instances would naturally be avoided and new ones would be made. It would also prevent excessive fees, as the fediverse is generally not a for-profit endeavor, and still, there will always be the option to shop around from other instances.

China is doing something good: here's why it's bad.

It's horryfiyng but for other reasons. I'm actually on disability and like every other single person on disability in Italy (sure it's better in other countries) I'm fortunate to have a family (as to not have to rely on the meager check) or else I'd be on the street or worse. Life on here costs about ~800€ a month but they expect (?) people with disability to live with 300/500 a month (the average disability pension) the only person I knew who received more than that (not even that more, barely 800€) was a lady that was literally a vegetable and her cares costed many multiples of 800€, at least the cool thing is that you can receive these brownie points and keep working. Can't comment on other European nations as they're all different in som ways.

Edit: oh also when you turn 18 the gov agency in charge of disabilities and pension does whatever is it in its power to strip you of your meager check🙄

Shit yourself in public -> gov thinks you're insane -> passive income from disability checks

It's really that easy guys.

If we are in a simulation it means God is the ascended version of a gigantic Linux server

Remì proceeded to bite Pollo, but Pollo invaded Remì's private sleeping space (my bed) at least I captured a cute moment.

PS: Pollo means chicken, bcs he looks like a raw chicken breast lol ^_^

For the uninitiated, jellyfin is a FOSS alternative to plex, for the double uninitiated, plex is a self-hosted alternative to Netflix, jellyfin can host shows, movies, books(already hosting lots of theory) audiobooks, documentaries and the like.

So, pls suggest stuff i could put on it to help radicalize my friends n family, or just fun stuff to watch. I already have the great classics by the 5 heads and some more. Looking for some spicy red documentaries and shows, also some commie movies would be nice. Suggestions welcome.

Most of my friends and all of my family know English at a decent level, but stuff that has an Italian translation is more welcome.

Ty.

Debian turns 30 today!

So, I host some songs on my jellyfin server, When I reproduce them on my android phone with the screen on the music is fine, no problem at all, but when the screen turns off or when I press the button to turn it off, the music sounds all corrupted, when I power the screen back on the music sounds fine, any solutions?

Translation isn't accurate since cruschi is a dialect word from Basilicata, the Italian region where this dish originates.

They're dried peppers briefly dipped in frying oil and then cooled and served or packed. They're really good.

Hello, I'm a reddit user since 2 years ago and i jumped ship on lemmy about a year ago. I still browse reddit for content I can't find over here (niche stuff mainly)

With the recent API disaster my favorite and only app (infinity) got switched to subscription only, let's just say i can't afford that right now. I've heard some apps will stick around for free thanks to reddit "generously" providing API access for free to a selected number of devs.

My question being: what apps will have this free API access and so will be around for free like infinity was just not long ago? (technically the switch happens at midnight but you all get my point)
