Thank you for the information and warning.

I contacted Louis Rossman's team, and sadly they do not offer the ram chips.

VERY helpful thank you.

Thank you for the info, knowing that they are called "IC chips" helps a lot. Regarding your advice, I am definitely not going to be getting a new or refurbished Apple product. This will be the last regardless of what happens.

Thank you, I will have to take a look.

It is pretty difficult to come up with stuff that is smaller in scale.

Maybe a solar powered bracelet that scans for various signals? In this day and age, people should probably be more aware of remote tech that can be used against them like air tags being slipped into vehicles or spy cams in air bnbs. Having a device constantly check for wireless signals and then encrypting that data and sending it to a phone or something could be useful. Especially if you do not need to worry about charging it thanks to the solar panels (assuming it gets enough sun), might want to include a charge port just in case though.

Not so much solarpunk as much as a neat little gadget with a solar panel though. It would probably need an arm cpu and a custom pcb too.

I wish you well with your project.

I am looking to upgrade the ram in a Macbook Air early 2014 model.

Let me start by saying that I am aware that the ram in a macbook is soldered to the motherboard, is very much not meant to be replaced / upgraded, the whole laptop can be damaged or destroyed if something goes wrong, and since this laptop is old it likely will not be supported for too much longer if it is not already unsupported. I would still like to consider the option anyways because it might be (hopefully is) cheaper than buying a new mac, and it also sounds fun to do anyways.

I would like to try upgrading this mac from 4 GB to 8 GB, but I am having difficulty finding ram chips online. I am looking for 2 GB ram chips to swap the 1 GB chips with (this mac has 4 memory chips).

Does anyone know of a good source for these?

Thank you for your time.

(tried posting this to another community but I do not think it went through)
