That's the point though, isn't it? They clearly don't want such customers.

The saddest part is when you finally convince a sizable part of your friends to use a more private messaging app, but then they slowly move back to whatsapp within a few months.

Apparently around 6000 worldwide

I don't know why I looked that up

When they announced they would make their codebase proprietary it was definitely a turning point. In hindsight, you can clearly see a shift in their way of doing things from that point on.

Is it just my sleep deprived brain or is the last sentence really incoherent? I had to read it three times

Tell that to the microsoft-edge URIs scattered all over the system

The final straw for me was when Windows started to ignore the default browser setting and open some links in Edge exclusively. Someone made a program to fix that, but Windows updates broke it to the point that the developer gave up on it.

You can try disabling it with ADB, see here. ADB is so effective that you can even disable system apps, though you might not want to do that to some of them.

I'm pretty sure it's safe to disable the browser since i'd done it before on a samsung phone with no issues whatsoever, but make sure you know what something does before you disable it. Worst case scenario you would need to factory restore the phone, no permanent damage.

Edit: pm disable seems to require root, i think you can replace it with pm disable-user --user 0 <package_name>

My balls shrivelled reading that

IMO gamers are like this because, throughout the years, they have been slowly desensitized through more and more agressive practices: starting with "please don't redistribute" and ending with literal rootkits
