Well. I bet he will be now. Better keep him then.

Btw, didn’t Biden’s former boss try to close GITMO?

Executive Order 13492, titled Review and Disposition of Individuals Detained at the Guantánamo Bay Naval Base and Closure of Detention Facilities, is an Executive Order that was signed by United States President Barack Obama on 22 January 2009, ordering the closure of the Guantanamo Bay detention camp in Cuba.

We couldn’t get this done in the last four years either?

You also have to consider the impacts to the other countries who would comply with these sanctions. You need time for them to change or the impact will be too severe, and they will just ignore them.

This takes political and economic capital. If the US were to move too quickly- esp in something where other countries obviously don’t have the same motivation to act, they could just tell the US to piss off and form their own economic system- without the US in the lead. This is a matter of calculating which option causes the least burden for those countries along with a bit of a gamble.

In the Post-World War II era, the Republicans became adept at the process of uniting its conservatives, moderates, and liberals while even satisfying the rightwing fringe. The Republicans became a “big tent.”

I believe in the party of the “big tent.”  If you’re large and energetic enough, you better wake up each morning and think about conflict management, not conflict resolution. -Newt

This is your own doing, dumbass.

Anyone who is halfway intelligent would have voted against trump to avoid exactly this situation. It was entirely predictable.

So what Trump is going to do is start removing the halfway intelligent people from Government, making the system worse for everyone (except him).

I feel like you aren’t reading anything anyone is saying here. Go with canon, nikon, sony, or panasonic. Best of luck.

Because that love was lost. It’s not those who perish that suffer longest, but those who endure after.

You just wished that something, in addition to this bygone creature, also experienced loss— and, very likely, had no idea what event precipitated the disappearance of their beloved. That something would have been left wondering, to the end of its days, if its would ever return.

I happened to notice another fire at 44°50'16.7"N 37°40'43.5"E (44.8388015, 37.6778192), just to the North East of the first. Appears to be another plant of some sort.

And one more.. to the west at a rail yard (44.8866265, 38.1173142)

On Friday, Justice Juan M. Merchan sentenced Donald J. Trump to an unconditional discharge, a rare and lenient sentence in New York state courts that still cements Mr. Trump’s status as a felon before his inauguration.

“You’ve been sentenced to.. continue doing what you’ve been doing.”

Basically, more reporting on this thread from 3 days ago: https://sopuli.xyz/post/20331137

Still nothing concrete about what happened.

For the first time since 538 published our presidential election forecast for Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump, Trump has taken the lead (if a very small one) over Harris. As of 3 p.m. Eastern on Oct. 18, our model gives Trump a 52-in-100 chance of winning the majority of Electoral College votes. The model gives Harris a 48-in-100 chance.

It’s kinda how you read the name, innit?

As a once-kid who used to take shortcuts across open ranch land, this bill would give land owners a license to kill:

The bill comes as an Arizona rancher awaits trial after he was arrested and charged with second-degree murder and aggravated assault for killing 48-year-old Gabriel Cuen-Butimea after he shot at a group of unarmed migrants walking through his 170-acre ranch outside of Nogales. Under its provisions, 73-year-old George Alan Kelly would have been justified for allegedly killing any of the migrants.
