Anyone with a NAS will immediately notice that they are on 2.4GHz because it will take several times longer to transfer files.
I use the free Adguard DNS server with the private DNS function on my phone. It works well enough for me. I don't see any reason to get the paid version. Of course I have uBlock Origin, but the DNS ad blocking helps in apps other than my web browser.

You can do almost anything with a website that you could do with an app. The only reason they are pushing the apps so hard is because they can collect a lot more data than a website can.

Even 7zip can compress a large text file to less than 25% of it's original size. The installer is less than 2MB. There are even better compression algorithms for text than 7zip though.
It's been a long time since I pirated over sneakernet. I shared a lot of music with friends that way though. I had an mp3 player with a big hard drive and it had a USB host port, so you could plug in a flash drive and copy files.
