Another song released from the album that disappeared for over a decade!

Ooh thanks for sharing this documentary. Lemmings is one of my favorite games of all time.

Here's the link if you don't want to go and give The Guardian more traffic.

But, released years before mobile phone games were a thing, it was nonetheless a fiendishly addictive game that feels like the spiritual precursor to the likes of Angry Birds. (from the article)

Precursor to modern mobile games the likes of Angry Birds? Really?

Then why are you continuing to argue that it IS bipolar?

Learn to read. I'm done. You made your point and I respectfully disagree, you suit yourself and keep pretending treating someone based on their skin color, sexuality or race isn't discrimination isn't discrimination. Either you don't know what the word means or you're so privileged you're blind to the fact.

[–] brewbellyblueberry@sopuli.xyz 0 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago) (6 children)

I'm not pretending anything and you're putting words in my mouth I never said or intentionally misenterpreting my words and I'm done with this bad faith argument of yours.

I'm not Mike Johnson and acknowledging discrimination doesn't make me privileged. You can discriminate all you want it doesn't make it any less discrimination. Nor does it make discrimination against someone even if they might be privileged any less discrimination.

If you really think someone who just happens to have been born those things and gets the worst treatment than someone who, say is, POC and/or LGBTQ, who is better off than someone who is homeless for example you're delusional and extremely discriminative. It largely concerns all of those things, but it's not as bipolar as american identity politics makes it up to be, it's more about class politics and politics essentially and way more subjective and individual than you're making it out to be - which is exactly my point, not a single one of any gender, sexuality, class, anything is a fucking monolith you should discriminate against as one. But you're free to downvote instead of discussing.

[–] brewbellyblueberry@sopuli.xyz 1 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago) (8 children)

But that's at least partially my point. That's discrimination, not all white people, not all straight people, not all men, are privileged and if you think that you're reinforcing the same discrimation you're supposedly against. Sure, there might be, proportionally, because of historical reasons/historical discrimination, more "straight white men" who are more privileged than most, but that's more about politics and thinking that way you are already discriminating against people just for being born the skin color they're born with, the sexuality and gender they're born with which we all know we have no control over. And that's fucked up.

If you really think there are no white or straight people or men that don't have the same privileges as some piece of shit like this guy or even a bunch of minority people I really cannot trust you're arguing in good faith. Class etc, privilege isn't all about the color of your skin or sexuality. Things are more subjective and inidividual than that.

I agree it makes this turd of a human being more of a hypocrite and I don't disagree with the comment I replied to entirely. I just don't see why there is a need to discriminate against an entire group of people just for the way they're born. I thought fighting against that very notion was the exact point.

e: Maybe I'm misunderstanding your point and possibly not explaining my point well (I am veeery tired), but anyway. Just because Mike Johnson is an asshole doesn't mean people should paint an entire gender or race or anything as assholes is my point. I get that the OC is somewhat sarcastic, but still.

I can't get over how much I love this song. How can one song be so soothing and devastating at the same time.

The whole album is a masterpiece in my opinion, but this one song - it just never fails to bring me chills.

I don't see a need to bring race into this.

Radio is a Foreign Country, they have their own website, but it has never really worked for me. Music from all around the world.

Also recommend Radio Garden, which lets you listen to radios from all over the world. Sometimes it has featured "posts" with channel recommendations from people, like Brian Eno and such. It's one of the best things on the internet. They have an app as well.

soma.fm is the shit. Most of the channels are great, but there is no better place for ambient music than Drone Zone.

Shit, I'm late to the party. I wasn't really all that much into the previous album (Angels & Demons), but this shit already feels like a return to form after London Zoo after only a couple of tracks. Fuck.

Found this one again after years. Heavy Elliott Smith vibes, just different.

Lol, almost mentioned Tenhi in my OP, but I figured since they're Finnish no-one is gonna know them either way. One of my favorite bands.

E: Also have to point out, they have "official" translations for their lyrics on their website all the way up to the previous to last album, done by the band themselves afaik. They're not entirely a 100% accurate and they've taken some fairly big creative liberties in translating them, but close enough and since they're official I give them a pass. Cool to see they get appreciated abroad, they're not very well known over here back home.

Love John Dowland as well.

E2: Just in case anyone is interested:

So I've always noticed when I'm as down as I can get, I find comfort is music that most people find super depressing all the way to unbearably depressing. Like slit-your-wrists depressing. Songs you'd expect to find someone hanging from a noose in their home on repeat to. These kinds of songs bring comfort because they make me feel like, ok, I'm not so alone with this shit.

And for context, really happy songs just seem the saddest, most devastating songs that there are, because you don't have that, you don't have that happiness, love, support, that glimmer of light everyone's so happy about you know?

So gimme the saddest songs you can think of. I'm wearing Joy Division out.

Some other music/songs I've been listening to: Ren - Hi Ren (and some others of his), Elliott Smith, Micah P. Hinson, Portishead, Swans, Lykke Li - I Never Learn, Interpol, Chelsea Wolfe, Elton John - Rocketman, Matt Elliott, Savages - Adore

This whole album is just amazing and you should listen to it now!

After announcing they were pretty much done with the album that was to be their last, over a decade ago, they suddenly announced they just disappeared after promising to release the album anyway and slowly erased any mention of the new album, along with the accompanying movie that was to go along with it. The band broke up and everyone went their merry own way and the album never came. A decade of silence.

I was sure it was never going to see the light of day, but it's finally here! I'm not sure I've waited this long for practically a finished album before.

The world doesn't owe you shit

The universe doesn't know you exist

Stop waiting for things to happen

Only you can make a change

Stop waiting

Stop waiting

The world doesn't owe you shit

The universe doesn't know you exist

The world doesn't owe you shit

Highly recommend checking out the whole album, it is really amazing: I Never Learn.

Chelsea's new song.

Holy. Fucking. Shit. I love Chelsea Wolfe. Holy shit this new song is amazing. Holy shit...

...

Whispers in the echo chamber of my mind

In the void they come alive and intertine

In the void I saw all I ever wanted

Beyond reality, beyond the binary

Bathing in the blood of who I used to be

Offering up all my imperfect offerings

Become my own fantasy

Twist the old self into poetry

Undone

Cut the chords

Cut ties

To yours

This world was not designed for us

And I've been punished, I've been blessed

Surrounded by living ghosts, you see

I thought I had to swallow them bеfore they swallowed mе

But you only know the one I've been

I've shed a thousand skins since then

A curse upon the monster of more

That shit does not define me anymore

Undone

Cut the chords

Cut ties

To yours

Undone

Cut the chords

Cut ties

To yours

I'm done

Cut the chords

Cut ties

To yours

MORE, MORE, MORE, MORE, MORE, MORE, MORE, MORE, MORE, MORE, MORE, MORE

...done
