Haha my wife is saying the same thing! Everyday I have a new one but I'm pretty happy with the collection now so I can calm down. I think I'm most excited about going to record stores and exploring the collections. It feels like I'm 16 again going to used record stores to find rare tapes and CDs.

After years of wanting one I finally made it happen. I am so unbelievably happy with this. I think my only gripe with the UTurn Orbit is that the acrylic platter doesn't have a groove for the belt making it easy to knock off. I wish they'd add a little groove just enough to prevent the round belt from rolling off when accidentally grabbed while removing a record. But if I'm careful it's a non issue.

My setup isn't perfect but I have no complaints!

Fully agree. It would be like saying people with @gmail addresses can't email people on @someFederated.com email addresses. Also I think (and correct me if I'm wrong here) the idea of "defederating" gives power to some in a way we hated reddit admins having power. Suddenly it's "totally the fediverse except when...".

Imo fuck that. If I don't like threads I won't use threads the same way if I don't like lemmy.someinstance I won't interact with lemmy.someinstance. leave it open and let the users choose. But also let's educate. Some will listen and some will roll their eyes. But it's a choice.

Facebook equivalent of Twitter (an underwhelmingly simplified description). I am not a fan of Meta but I'm a fan of competition in any market so even though I have no plans to use Threads I'm glad it exists as yet another option to prevent one single platform from being "the" platform.

I was telling some friends that I actually like the awkward state Lemmy is in. Reminds me of "the old days" when things felt new and mysterious. I have worked in tech a long time (almost 20yrs) and I still feel like I'm dialing up to the internet for the first time again and rediscovering things. I love it.
