Yes, the only thing which until now isn't opensource is Magic Earth, which they use in their /e/OS (degoogled Android) instead of Google maps.

The inbuild ad/rackerblocker works fine for me, even blocks cookie advices and even some paywalls. It depends only on the filterlists you add. The only site where the Vivaldi adblocker failes is YouTube, but for this I use instead a script with Violentmonkey which get rid of all ads, nags and craps in YT. You can adjust your adblocker with the help of this service

Well, at least for me Murena is a nice and private Mail and OpenSource. If 1 GB is enough for you, it's a good choice. Apart there is no need to switch, it's always advisable to have several mail accounts at hand.

I use also Murena Mail, apart of Proton https://murena.io Murena is a whole ecosystem, similar to GDrive, they even had launched the complete degoogled Murena smartphones

Tech Radar review

Murena’s key goal is to stop companies collecting unnecessary data from your phone and online footprints, which it says accounts for up to 12Mb every single day. Transparency is clearly important when browsing Murena’s website, which states that all of its servers are based in Europe including its Finnish email and cloud servers, resulting in full GDPR compliance.

Nextcloud, which sets the foundation for many of Murena’s services, is end-to-end encrypted, while a statement on Murena’s website reads:

“We don’t scan your data, we don’t log your app usage, we don’t sell your data, we don’t use ads in our online services.”

Negative points for some

  • Only 1 GB Cloud for free (maybe enough if you only use the mail)
  • Somewhat more expensive than others with the Premium plan

Asking and being capable to do it are two different things.

the argument ?I've nothing to hide? isn't valid. Ask the people if then it's also OK if the Postman or anyone else read their private correspondence, or is looking over their shoulder while you are chatting with someone, above you are investigated by the authorities when you try to avoid it, it's exactly the same

Yeah, wait for it. Even in China they are not cappable to control all the privacy tricks and measures for messages by the users. Where there is a law, there is also a trick to go around it, I doubt very much that they manage to control more than the usual chat apps, the effort would be economically unaffordable to do it also in decentralized or even on self-hosted private networks.

The only is avoid centralized chats, using decentralized encrypted ones. For all those which use Watsfuck and others like these Google-Zuckerbot derivates it makes anyway no difference if the EU scan or not their chats, especially using stock iPhone or Android.

Someone still use Twitter?

Since time, when I enter Lemmy, before it loads, instead of my nickname, a random nickname appears. This happens only occasionally and only during the second that Lemmy loads and my nickname appears. Today I finally managed to take a screenshot in time to document it. What is the reason for this? My account has not been compromised and I use good privacy protections.
