That sucks. I'm just now learning that something other than the BR mode once existed. I would have been totally on board for a TD version of the game. Now that it's all BR, I'm just -meh-.

For me personally:
a) I really dislike Multiplayer/PvP only games especially in the BR genre and those loosely in that area. Halo Infinite kinda sits in this for me. Feels like they didn't put as much effort into the single player campaign as much as they did the Multiplayer side. And I've LOVED the Halo series up to this point including 4 and 5.
b) There is of course the whole children aspect. And it's not just singling out Fortnite. I've been into other games in the past that I've had to give up because of a sudden influx of kids. I used to play RecRoom a lot as an example. But it seemed when they started adding 'pancake' support and added a mobile app, it just went downhill FAST. I haven't bothered to go back.
c) It does seem like they are trying way too hard these days to keep it relevant. Every time I turn around I see some new game mode or environment, the latest meme included somehow, some of the more obnoxious content creators shilling for them, etc..
That said, this is all my own personal view on it. Doesn't bother me if others play it or what they think about it. The game just simply isn't for me.
Ditto on the last point. I understand other Fediverse platforms like Mastodon and such should just work with others like Kbin/Lemmy, but the UI's are so massively different. So I've went with the idea of having separate accounts. One for my existing Mastodon instance and one here on Kbin. To me it feels like the best way to manage it.
As a bonus to all of this, I should be able to easily follow my Kbin account and boost posts over on Mastodon if needed once federation is all sorted.
As sad and morbid it is to think about, there's probably not anything left other than a fine mist disbursed through the ocean.
I'm reminded of the one episode of Mythbusters where they tested an old school dive suit at depth with loss of pressure. Not the exact same situation, but consider they are MUCH deeper than this was. And in that test on the show, their human analogue looked like it got finely blended into a pile of mush inside the suit. The pressures that deep are no joke.
As another comparison, I'm sure someone with actual numbers could compare the PSI at the depth they went missing to what is put through from a hydraulic press and just go watch any video on the hydraulic press YT channel for comparison.
