I've said my peace, unfortunately not much more I can do. I'll let him go Lord over his little fiefdoms as he wishes. The whole experience has totally turned me off of Lemmy TBH; I've literally never had this kind of issue with a mod here or on Reddit.
I switched back after some drama with a petty mod. I've found that so far, the quality of content on Reddit just isn't there anymore. In fact, I'd go as far as to say it's hot garbage. Unfortunately, the niche content I enjoyed and sometimes relied on just isn't here, so now I flip back and forth between them.
I'm still beyond pissed about 3rd party apps, though. The official Reddit app is a steaming pile that wants to be TikTok SO BAD.
My stepfather is like that. I even tried to use his own logic to help him see most of these conspiracies are dumb; "you said yourself that the gov't is incompetent. So how can they pull off a conspiracy at this scale if they can't run the country?" - stuff like that.
It doesn't matter, he's fully drank the Kool-Aid, so I just keep him at arm's distance now.
