It's a complicated issue and explaining it to people who have been spending the last year consuming Iranian propaganda isn't going to get her anywhere. People want her to say "Israel is evil" and anything other than that will have them screaming "genocide Kamala" in the same way they scream "genocide Joe."

Yeah it's really a no-win scenario. Probably why she's just avoiding the subject altogether.

A lot of people have grandparents that fought against an antisemitic regime tho.

It seems odd that endorsing Carter was "understandable reasons at the time." What were the reasons? Following the whole debacle with Nixon it made sense to endorse the guy running against the GOP? Isn't there even more understandable reasons a this time right now?

It would make sense in any other election other than this one and the last one. Really weird choice to stop endorsing with this particular election.

Pretty sure Israel was attacked by Iranian proxies in those countries. But I'm sure there was a lot of revisionist history going on at that rally in Madison Square Gardens in 1939 too.

Nah, I'm against massacring villages which is what Hamas did. You seem to be on their side (or you at least look the other way when they commit atorcities) so you're pro genocide. But that's what fascist do, right? Accuse your enemies of that which you're guilty of. Nothing you're saying is all that original.

Well they were probably too loyal to their idiot Fuhrer. Methinks it's the loyalty part that Trump wants.

They have a list of people that are registered to vote. They mark off the people on the list who have voted so they can't vote twice. But when the person actually votes it's done outside the sight of anyone else (sometimes behind a curtain) so no one knows who they voted for.

There was a time when there were gangs outside of polling stations that would beat the shit out of people that didn't vote how they wanted. And considering how insane the MAGAs are, it's not too improbable this kind of thing could happen again if it weren't for having a secret ballot system.

Yeah a classic. For additional context, Crossfire was cancelled about a week after that and Tucker Carlson never wore a bowtie again.

If they're putting ads on their site then it's clear they want to make money. You're imposing your views onto other people when they've clearly indicated they don't think they way you want them to.

Protest swiftly condemned by all levels of government; organizing group denies hospital targeted

Toronto police say they are increasing their presence along hospital row after a pro-Palestinian protest downtown on Monday night, including outside Mount Sinai Hospital.

Toronto Police Service spokesperson Stephanie Sayer told CBC News the increased police presence is to ensure that essential hospital services and emergency routes remain accessible.

"Interfering with the operations of a hospital is not acceptable," Sayer wrote in an email.

Police have not said if the hospital's operations were impacted by the protest. The hospital has not responded to CBC News's request for comment.

"The Toronto Police Service is investigating several incidents that occurred in front of Mount Sinai Hospital and along the demonstration route. As we have said before, officers use their discretion during large crowd demonstrations and even if arrests are not deemed safe to make at the time, investigations will continue and charges can be laid at a later date," Sayer said.

GENEVA, Jan 26 (Reuters) - The United Nations agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) said on Friday it had opened an investigation into several employees suspected of involvement in the Oct. 7 attacks in Israel by Hamas and that it had severed ties with those staff members. "The Israeli authorities have provided UNRWA with information about the alleged involvement of several UNRWA employees in the horrific attacks on Israel on October 7," said Philippe Lazzarini, UNRWA Commissioner-General.

"To protect the agency's ability to deliver humanitarian assistance, I have taken the decision to immediately terminate the contracts of these staff members and launch an investigation in order to establish the truth without delay."

Lazzarini did not disclose the number of employees allegedly involved in the attacks, nor the nature of their alleged involvement. He said, however, that "any UNRWA employee who was involved in acts of terror" would be held accountable, including through criminal prosecution.
