It's not exactly black pepper. It's like mangoes and black pepper share a something, and that's enough to remind me of black pepper, if that makes sense.

This does mean I like it enough as an ingredient - for example, I would eat mango salsa.

I'm not really a fan. They have a certain light taste of black pepper that ruins them for me. I guess I'm sort of like the cilantro-soap people.

It's way better if you feed all the ingredients through a meat grinder (the irony is not lost on me), rather than a food processor. Think corn meal texture vs flour texture.

Also, deep fry it. Baking it just isn't nearly as good.

Or it's people trying to muddy the water to both-sides something. I've been noticing an uptick of posts from the far-right crowd creeping out of the woodwork recently, and they're all up in arms about people saying US Conservatives are intolerant.

Being told not to be an asshole to others isn't intolerance. It is the intolerance of intolerance - which is a necessary part of a tolerant society.

See: The Paradox of Intolerance (which the far right nuts call the new Mein Kamp. Gross).

There is more interaction, but also a lot more crazy far-right assholes the past few weeks at least (in my experience).

Yes, not tolerating intolerance is the same as advocating for the destruction of people based on race. Grow up and quit sucking on Donnie's toes.

You mean like the threat of the end of democracy? Or the housing crisis? Or the student debt crisis? Inflation (which is largely just greed)? Increasing wealth disparity? Frozen wage increases? Loss of pensions? Threats to social security? Medical costs increasing and insurance paying out less and less?

Have empathy, and look around. Just because you are OK now doesn't mean everyone is.

Let me help!

  • 1 block tempeh, sliced down the middle long ways, and then clicked into little rectangle slices. Pan fry in a little oil of you choice.

Combine for sauce (put in a bowl and toss the tempeh in it after - cooked peanut butter isn't great, imo):

  • 1 part soy sauce or tamari
  • 1 part lime juice
  • 1 part sriracha
  • 1 part brown sugar
  • 2 parts peanut butter

Get back to me. This is one of my absolute favorites!

Someone needs to read more about the Paradox of Tolerance.

Tofu is fine, but tempeh is almost as widely available in supermarkets, has a higher protein density, is fermented, and works in soooo many things. It's also way easier to get the hang of marinating and cooking.

I mention this only because I love it so much, and I'd love for people that shit on vegan food to give that a go (lightly pan fried, and then tossed in a gooey before sriracha-soy-peanut-butter-lime-brown-sugar sauce) and get back to me. I could eat it every night and never get tired of it.

If you can help it - sign up for nothing with a direct bank withdrawal or debit card. Use a credit card, because it puts an important barrier between you and your purchases. It's way easier to get help with stuff for credit cards, and it's easier to cancel than getting a new bank account. Bonus: charge backs punish these assholes.
