Not sure where you are but you might want to check local small makers/ farmers market. The soap lady at my local farmers market has the best soaps - I no longer use anything else for showering. I think it's less likely they'll turn a blind eye these days. Oakland was similar but there was a massive crackdown on artists wherehouse spaces after the GhostShip fire (36 people lost their lives) .
I agree. Unfortunately this country has a big problem with education, intellectualism, and science.
