@orcrist @lvxferre There is narrowly targeted forums, case in point Totalbiscuits dedicated one. Problem lies with first rest in peace a good videogame critic. Second same as paid checkmark on Twitter. Why would you pay for service you can't trust? There is subset of people who don't make research and pay for security, but it's mentality of people who pay for confidence. Those same people who will leave Twitter and go Misskey. They will pay to support Misskey rather than to pay for a checkmark.
Kotking
@zephyr I wrote my observations https://hub.hubzilla.de/wiki/kotking/Fediverse/Home . It's a really Work in progress and raw, but I mentioned and credited source some questions you have. Still think how to fill Kbin section and as I use Misskey also will be written about... But it's so much feature bloat that I would need wiki for wiki... Half joking.
@seansand @vis4valentine Yeap first thing they do is say test or hello... And nothing. Then they wonder why there is no one, or why only 1 tab with news especially non English speakers are dumbfounded. I just look at live feed if in mood> see someone asking for help or test> explain # and how important to use them to find people or be found qnd how only # works in search bar. I don't blame them because not every top boosted post has # but a little proding, use # local language and voilà progress
@HubertManne @zinklog And that it's fine, we all have a=our own Mantras that we listen too or Superstitions you can also say. What most important that you yourself mentioned, that people used to do something and now they are complacent. If you compare how Japan, Europe and USA handled Covid you can see that something you have to learn and repeat and some things you have to do even if your society is pushing against it. Yeah tell someone to wear a mask when they cough!
@zinklog "History loves repeat itself" With Covid , Wars and even daily life you see this so so many times. On big or little scales but this is a almost mantra to me " History is spiral it always comes back to point x" Sometimes it's scary because you know exactly what happened and what happening now can happen again...
@Kovu @aleph "You don't know how to cook em!" /jk But really it all depends on what you interested in and if people even use # ... do you know how many people joined due twitter fkups recently? Do you know how many use tweeter to mastodon conversion thingy to find old pals and use it as a message board instead you know.... SEARCHING VIA # ? so yeah it can be boring if people don't use # and only advanced users speak and search things. REally look at local feed and not only in eng! Translate it!
@Drunemeton https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/171664?hl=en and here googled how to put links for new creators guide https://influencermarketinghub.com/clickable-links-youtube/.
@Drunemeton @DmMacniel Nope, as someone who upload gameplay videos can tell you, you need to verification yourself before they will allow to post links in description. So all links provided by Youtuber are because they are trustworthy or just gone through the verification process. I am lazy to do and my country is not supported for monetization so no deal for me to go through = no outside links in description. You can try it for yourself.
@Friend https://mas.to/@sjosjo/110589535586009725 This post mentioned that you can get rss feed from lemmy, you can also get rss feed from kbin in same way and not only magazine but users too. For Mastodon add .rss to end of user.
@noodlejetski @qooqie https://erinkissane.com/mastodon-is-easy-and-fun-except-when-it-isnt I read article and can say I understand many problems listed there. If you join Biggest instance then sure you won't encounter some of the listed problems, but federation isn't about joining biggest. Not intuitive UI also big factor, why greeting message don't tell Use #Hello #Привет or other language for first message? People don't understand/know about search being specific to # add to that bombardment with tips... Fediverse is bad for newcomer.
