Can I ask why he wouldn’t use Signal?

What’s rule 1?

[–] KidDogDad@beehaw.org 2 points 11 months ago

Haha yeah I was slightly confused why I wanted to play a different massive sprawling rpg but 🤷🏻‍♂️

I was playing a ton of Baldur's Gate 3, but I decided I needed a break on it after getting to Act 3. I'm currently playing Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire for the first time and enjoying it.

I use Garuda and love it, but I also don’t think it’s the best for a first Linux distro, unless you’re good with needing to consistently use the command line for things, and you are interested in learning more about Linux and want a distro that requires you to occasionally get your hands dirty.

From what I’ve seen, Linux Mint is a great first distro. If you want something that’s more purposed to gaming, then Nobara is great. It’s made by GloriousEggroll, who makes Proton-GE. It’s not going to be as new-user friendly as Mint, but more so than Garuda.

False alarm everyone. I run Garuda but have been playing around with Nobara and I filled it out on both distros on the same machine. Sorry to get everyone’s hopes up.

This ^^. It turns out that Elon is just a narcissistic idiot who doesn’t actually have good business sense, at least in the software world. The types of things he’s been trying are better explained as someone who wants Twitter to make more money but doesn’t understand how people actually think and behave and doesn’t realize that these decisions will alienate users and destroy the product. Spez decisions seem similar, although on the whole I think he’s less of a people idiot than Elon, and is probably just under tons of pressure to improve the financials right now and is making bad short-sighted decisions as a result.

Wefwef question (beehaw.org)
submitted 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) by KidDogDad@beehaw.org to c/asklemmy@lemmy.ml

Hi all. Hoping this is an okay place to post this. I have a quick wefwef question. I blocked a community and verified that posts from that community don’t show up in my ‘all’ feed on Beehaw.org. I’m logged in to wefwef on my phone, but posts from that community are still showing up in ‘all’ in wefwef. Is this expected behavior? If not, does it just take time? (It’s only been a few minutes.)

EDIT: I just checked back in and it seems to be working. I’m guessing it just takes time.

American here: I fully accept that Monday as first day of the week makes more logical sense, but my brain can’t reverse years of programming. I get very confused and make mistakes if I look at a calendar that starts on Monday.

Honestly, it’s also “literally”. Humans are complex lol.

Sees you from a few hills away: Oh my gosh we’re literally right next to each other! 😜

I randomly messaged a former colleague who I haven’t talked to in 7 years, which is not the kind of thing I normally do, and I got an excited reply a day later.

Mistborn: The Final Empire! If I’m not mistaken, “heist book in fantasy setting” is literally one of the main things that inspired Brandon Sanderson to write this.

Hi all! I'm really enjoying my time on the Threadiverse so far. I have two things that have confused me, one about the Threadiverse in general and one small thing for Beehaw's UI.

  1. Threadiverse: If I click on a link that lands me on a post directly on another instance, and am therefore not logged in, how can I comment on that post? What's the quickest way to go from there to my instance's local copy of that post? (Feature request: It would be great if links generated somehow automatically did this, such that if you click on a link like this from your own instance while logged in, it will take you to the local copy if it exists. I worry that this will be a huge blocker to mass adoption, since it's really common to link to other posts in your own post / comments.)

  2. When I save a post on Beehaw, where does that live? I've been unable to find my saved posts.
