Mull + ublock on andvanced mode ftw. Mull is awesome, even if you need to change sometimes a thing or two from about:config (e.g. ocsp.require sadly broke a lot of websites), but the real feature is the ublock addon in advanced mode: if you learn how to use it (not hard, you can check the wiki on the official GitHub page or any guide on the internet) then you will have complete control on your traffic and a great protection against tracking and security issues. Tor is good too for everyday browsing, just use another browser for things that need an account

I saw a video a couple days ago, it seems non-LTS versions of Ubuntu are better for consumers and newbies, since there are better drivers and hardware support

Happen with mastodon too, I guess it is a common issue in every decentralized social network

So you probably aren't human, since you care more about other species than yours. Who cares of people with conditions, who cares about poor people, who cares about fragile ones, who cares about your grandma or your mother or the one friend who will have a bad case of COVID even with completely healthy immune system, right? You don't have any moral "spinal column", you are just a egoistic and egocentric person who doesn't care of anyone except yourself. You are not on any higher moral ground, you're just selfish. And even as a selfish person, you would make the worst decision about masks and vaccine, since your survival probability are higher if you vaccinate and put a mask on. So, it's not about control, it's not about your "freedom", it's not about health, it's about your whims

Thanks for the answer, sadly it's exactly what I expected: there is still no way to have a decent working TTS-STT system on android (without Google, of course)

It depends on your threat model, as always. Since your IP is linked to you, police and everyone else who can legally ask your provider something will know who you really are. This can be a non-issue in some country and for some use-cases, and could be really dangerous for someone else. But except for this it should not impact deeply your privacy, AFAIK, and having communications under your only complete control is always a good thing. I would only be careful to not link too much services to my only person, especially "social media".

Still, I would advice against hosting your email server for your primary mail, since it will probably cause too many problems (antispam and the like) with other big providers

Is there a way to install these on android?

[–] Jama@lemmy.ml 1 points 2 years ago

Lol, didn't know that. So using strong security measures is kind of illegal... man, world is fucked up

Free Libre Open Source Software, since the word "free" is often misunderstood
