Exactly! It's the Unix timestamp for 2023-11-05 00:40:45.238 UTC

When I'm writing webscrapers I mostly just pivot between selenium (because the website is too "fancy" and definitely needs a browser) and pure requests calls (both in conjunction with bs4).

But when reading about scrapers, scrapy is often the first mentioned Python package. What am I missing out on if I'm not using it?

yeah, I fully understand that. I tried it a couple days ago for the first time and I'm still not sure what to make of it. However, I recently opened youtube on freshly installed PC recently and wasnt logged in... oh boy.. all the the influencers influencing about nothing... the reaction videos about reaction videos... and why is everyone still poor when there is so much great advice out there to get rich? I hope Odysee allows to ignore all that crap over time... otherwise I wont stick around long either... we'll see :)

Someone else already pointed towards odysee.com. However, I think it speaks volumes that the best video explaining the concept I found on youtube.... even though the exact same creator has a channel on odysee.com as well.

However, there are a couple of youtubers also present on odysee, like "3Blue1Brown", "Veritasium" or a bit more niche Jack Rhysiders podcast... think I'm going to test this over the couple of days/weeks for a bit

maybe our generation (if we're even the same, lol) could just hide our boredom better :D But deep down we all needed that teacher who could keep us engaged... but who knows... :)

100% agree... and not having to think about karma, which I didn't really, but then still kind of did I think, feels really awesome

yeah, that's definitely a part. And it kind of feels good to try to help build something... though I'm far from the first bunch of people who started this

I realized I interacted / posted / commented less and less on reddit these last couple of years. Couldn't even tell you why exactly. Now I've been here for a week and, I don't know, I just like interacting again... Hope it stays like this for a while :)

also its not just pure "compatibility", but I had a time when I played vids to my TV over an old laptop (from around 2015). Worked like a charm. But some x265 vids went into full-on stutter mode in scenes where a lot of stuff was happening... was more a nuisance than a dealbreaker, but still, preferred x264 versions if I could get them

Within the constraints of the job it might be impossible to implement any changes, but do you have any ideas how to keep students engaged for long term projects when they have these 2min-tik-tok attention spans? I'm asking as someone who sees this behaviour in younger colleagues that I try to educate as a senior... :D

Baconreader stopped working last week, so I took the time on the weekend to set this up... Very happy with the experience so far (don't even need an app, using it in Firefox on mobile and saving it as an app is the perfect experience)

There is a LinusTechTips Video where they build a PC together (the guy from the original verge video) and he explained what happened. Have nothing but respect for that dude for doing that now...
