It's because in the majority of cultures (and hegemonic cultures today) have had men at the top of their hierarchical structure and there are more straight men. The male gaze makes women into sexual objects, culturally we see women as inherently sexy as a result.

This is the same when you see little kids given dolls with different skin colors and told to pick the "good" and "bad" doll. Even children of color pick the white doll for the good one. Because "normal" or "default" means good. In the case of sexual attraction in a straight male dominated society, that means sexual attraction to women.

Edited: I accidentally pushed the post button too soon...

While this is indeed a list, it pales in comparison to what you can do in or near a large city.

I enjoy a ton of things on your list but there's stuff you just can't easily do outside of a metro area. Especially stuff you need a specialized teacher for.

Difficult considering social security isn't a tax. Without looking it up my guess is that number rolls up the 14-15% of SS and Medicare taxes so the real number is lower.

I'm sure that will make people feel super safe while ubering.

Too bad those of modest means can't afford their own generators. But screw them right? Should probably have been born richer.

You can turn off emergency alerts though. And you can't get them back after they've been dismissed from your phone.

I work for the state. For the last decade or more, the pension has been a pittance (1% per year of service, takes 10 to vest). Better than absolutely nothing but still not enough even when you add it to SS. I put back what I can, but realistically I don't think I'll ever be able to afford to retire even with the pension.

To be fair, Plant Vogtle just turned on Unit 3 earlier this year and Unit 4 should be coming soon.

Double ditto. My mortgage is less than rent anyway, and my costs will go down if valuation does (lower taxes). I don't even like where I live right now (I bought what I could afford and got in with a low interest rate, but it's a poorer neighborhood) but I'd be so happy to see my friends who've been struggling manage to have something for themselves.

OoO this would be fun to try to do the whole song...

Aside from the fact that this isn't true for people giving up their citizenship (in the US at least), it's especially not true around the world. Lots of people are born stateless or made stateless during conflict or upheaval.

Cruise ships are more about the amenities on board. Not sure how many amenities you could get on an airship because of the weight. So it would be a two days boring as hell trip and most people aren't going to give up the vacay time to sit around and do nothing.

Thought I'd share my 16ish year old with you all and give posting a try since I'm new to the fediverse thing! Isn't she the cutest?!
