Probably not the smartest thing to say when everyones being squeezed to make ends meet.

We're really going to have Dutton for PM aren't we..

desire to learn more DSP maths increases

But seriously that's really cool! You also sound really cool, do you mind me asking where your studies have taken you? I'm looking at going back to study soon, potentially for compsci and mechanical engineering but I'm torn between a lot of different degree at this moment

Thanks for expounding, I'll definitely look into using that filament.

My aim is to find a cost effective diy solution for robotic servos. I want to try to make something equivalent to the Dynamixel mid range.

I think the cost of these motors make amateur robotics prohibitively expensive.

I considered designing a gear hob / jig to make hobs for the open lathe 3d print, but I feel like that's too far abstracted from my purpose and most people wouldn't be willing to go that route. (But it'd still be pretty cool)

So I'm considering multiple options, 3d printed gears, purchased metal gear sets, diy gears from the lathe

I'm gonna do some more research on these gears and I'll let you know if I find anything culpable

Woah those are some cool properties, I wonder how hard these gears would be to manufacture at home? I'm looking at implementing my own custom gear reductions in servos but I don't think my 3d prints will mesh well enough or withstand long usage

My common solution to boot issues that lock me out is,

  1. Get a USB Live distro (always good to have a backup lying around)

  2. Boot into live distro

  3. Chroot into the broken distro (Arch wiki has an article on this)

  4. Fix any bugs that I can find and/or reinstall the bootloader

  5. Test, repeat until the problem has been found and fixed

Hope it helps any newcomers!
