All opinions are biased and I don't like Manjaro!

I had a lot of success with StremIO and the TorrentIO addon, that allows me to stream directly from the torrents of various sites with autoplay, IMDB, remembering where I am at and all that good stuff

Dualbooting is a great start for most people who want to switch but USB sticks have cheap storage controllers so they will die insanly fast if you put that kind of load on them permanentely and it will probably be slower than a HDD.

They crash enough on Windows already, I would highly recommend against it! :/

I used Newpipe for ages but it seems to struggle with the recent wave of blocking attempts by Google so I just switched to Libretube, that has the benefit of Sponsorblock and promised Dearrow support with the next release!

Interesting, seems like there is a Linux app now too, well still not a fan of externak devices just to sideload but luckily the EU will improve that with the Digital markets act I guess

You should be able to switch that on the login screen, Fedora started to shit Wayland a little early for my taste but it works really well by now

I think they do a great job for new Linux users because what seems like bloat to us is the (at least in my opinion) most comolete GUI experience on Linux but I agree, it dose have quite a bit preinstalled to achive that.

There are ways to sideload apps on iOS but I think you need a Macbook to do so, I had a iPhone once because I got it for free and I will never touch one of those ever again!

If you want something that "just works" any Arch base won't be a good idea in my opinion. I love Arch but there will be certain things to figure out from time to time and for someone with little experience they can be tough! For you usecase I would recommend Fedora, that's a lot more up to date but not a rolling realease and tends to just work for me.

My favorite Reddit client Infinity has a Lemmy version now, it's still heavily WIP (pre-release) but works like a charm already. A few hours ago IzzyOnDroid added it to his F-Droid repository so while it's not in the official one yet, which isn't that easy with a pre-releases app and only updates weekly, you can install and update it thought your favorite F-Droid client now! If you use F-Droid you should have Izzy's repo anyway, otherwise you did something wrong! ;)

This should be enough but if you have issues adding his repo I recommend to get Aurora Droid, it's a beautiful F-Droid client and has a list of useful third party repos you can enable with a single click!
