About 6 chapters in and wow, I have no idea what is going. I've heard people say it eventually all clicks but man is it a confusing ride to get there!
For everyone's awareness, if you're having the same issue make sure you have verified your account through an email you get. I have Gmail and the verification email went to my spam folder. After verifying no issues logging in!
