Yeaah, but they have a similar response whenever they learn a unisex bathroom opened in an airport. It's entirely unsurprising people lacking two braincells to rub together would look to billionaires to call for an "uprising".

Sorry, who's looking to corporate media for "the resistance" ? Seems like a terribly stupid metric to judge this.

Optimistic that they'll "only" cut narcan funding, yeah... it's bleak.

That's optimistic, I'm anticipating systematic execution of drug users. Republicans have praised Duterte's policies in the past.

WebStorm and Rider will have community versions soon, they are going to eat VS Code's lunch.

We definitely have plans, big plans. Big massive contingency plans. Well, I can't really describe them right now, because they're so big. It's really more like concepts, but check back in 2 weeks.

Ah, actually using Outlook like a normal user.

Ha, right? I'm keeping my fingers crossed there is some executive at MS raging and it will get resolved before they force everyone off the legacy version. Surely there are people inside their organization with tons more traffic than I see.

They're doing their best to "improve" excel too... I can't understand how their AI generated cell fill is worse than the old approach.

I've been told the extended time to open is related to how big the outlook database is, I average 200 emails received a day with various alerts and notifications from internal tools and it cripples new outlook in about a week if I'm not diligent with keeping folders cleaned out/emails deleted. This volume wasn't a issue before I switched.

The new outlook has exceeded "garbage" and gone all the way to dumpster fire. It sometimes takes upwards of 15, 30 seconds to open an email. The new auto formatting is a hindrance to be overcome by tricking it to act how you want. Trying to schedule an event across timezones shits the bed half the time, resulting in improper meeting times being sent out. Absolute failure.

  1. Yes I know you can learn for free reading man pages
  2. Remember to update the 'Adjust Donation' before purchasing to give more to the charity/publisher
  3. Share which books you already read or are looking forward to reading

Hi, I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, but when I try to crosspost from communities on other instances (ie. Lemmy.ml/c/linux) to communities on my instance (sh.itjust.works/c/linux), the local community does not appear as an option. Even when I try to type in the fully qualified community name it will not show up.

This does not seem to happen with every community, and I think maybe it has something to do with a large number of results truncating smaller communities from the list?

If anyone has a workaround or can help me understand how to crosspost better, I'd much appreciate it.

The new competition is hitting YouTube Nov 1, it's finally time for some heavyweight bot combat!

I'm very excited. Tombstone is here, Faruq is announcing, Chris Rose still handing play-by-play. Fantastic potential.

Ubuntu 24.10 is available to download and install from the official website. It ships with the Linux 6.11 kernel and the latest GNOME 47 desktop enviroment. This version switches to Wayland by default for hardware with NVIDIA graphics, matching the previous Xorg transition for Intel and AMD graphics users, and uses the open-source NVIDIA 560 kernel modules by default on supported hardware. The kernel also has kdump-tools, which enables kernel crash dumps by default. This helps streamline troubleshooting by automatically capturing critical data after a crash.

Canonical also said in its blog post, "For gamers, significant improvements have also been made to the compatibility of the Steam snap, with an expanded permissions model and improved NVIDIA driver support. The Steam snap also bundles gaming-specific Mesa PPAs to deliver optimized performance out of the box when combined with the low latency settings enabled in the latest kernel."

Updates are also visible in the Ubuntu Dock, which better handles Progressive Web Applications. The OpenJDK 21 and OpenJDK 17 packages in Ubuntu have also changed and are now TCK (Technology Compatibility Kit) certified on amd64, arm64, s390x, ppc64el, and armhf. Passing the TCK tests means the OpenJDK packages for version 17 and version 21 on Ubuntu are compliant with the Java SE specification for their corresponding versions.
