Why do I keep talking to myself and contradicting every other thing I say?

(Taking this to its logical conclusion, in case I forget why I wrote this when I read it later and feel like arguing with myself about it)

Happy birthday!

The whole thing feels like an argument intended to push people away rather than rally support.

Oh yeah, not just for others who want it but also to cause max pain to scalpers when others can get what they want to sell for cheaper than the scalpers paid for it in the first place. If the price stays the same, there's a good chance the scalpers will be able to at least cut their losses by selling at a slight discount (or even at par if they find the right location for a "you could have this in your hands right now instead of having to go to the store" kinda deal).

Yeah it's ridiculous with every small app needing to be packaged with a full DOM and maybe even an http server for all I know and what should have been a few kb ends up being 1000x that or more.

It's like so many programmers never evolve past the "playing around with web dev stuff" days. The fact that JavaScript is one of the most used languages is appalling.

The whole 1+1 = 11 meme made me laugh and then avoid JavaScript whenever possible, but I wonder if many others saw it and thought, "now I've gained more experience in JavaScript!"

This is why I like seeing new tech with a high launch price. Even if I want one, I'm patient, and it would be worth seeing a bunch of scalpers get fucked from just assuming that initial demand will set the price even higher.

I hope they thought they had to wait in an uncomfortable line to grab the ones they got and that the store only offers exchanges and no refunds.

Ah, yeah, it might have been the implication that they were equivalent that got me thinking that rather than them using "download" instead of "steal".

They also lost me with the sappy ads about the crews that don't make millions from the movies, as if the studios would even be able to produce movies without paying crews (and weren't already doing everything they could to reduce that expense).

Especially when I knew that it was the studios' fault theatres had to gouge people on snacks because those greedy fucks wanted all of the ticket sales money, despite theatres requiring money to run and maintain.

And don't get me started on Hollywood accounting and how it was used to claim Return of the Jedi made 0 profit to fuck over the actor behind one of the most iconic roles in film (who wanted royalties instead of a set pay but made the mistake of believing they were negotiating with him in good faith and weren't just fucking vultures).

Vim has been around long enough that I've found anything I want to figure out how to do has been discussed many times on various places around the internet and have yet to fail to find what I'm looking for with a search.

I've seen vscode fill up home directories unnecessarily when run on the machine directly as well as remotely!

IMO vscode is a perfect example of recent software that looks great from a features pov but horrible from an efficient implementation pov. I loved it until I hated it.

I always thought the "you wouldn't download a car" ads were based on an assumption that star trek replicator technology would be evil (with the public argument that it would put people out of jobs and the real reason being it would be harder to base a wealth-based hierarchy and system of middlemen on).
