Why? Her character was 17 played by a 21 year old, Jack was not mentioned by age in the film but Leo was 22 during filming, you could say he was 18 in the movie with the same character to real life difference.

There was certain channels that started ad free, and some like HBO only ever showed ads for their own content, but there was always ads. TV now is very different and arguably worse, but not for that reason.
I always appreciated that in shows like Pawn Stars and American Pickers, yeah the main point is entertainment, but they actually made an effort to explain the objects and history around them.
