In terms of new tech stack currently theres sublinks being made by devs/admins of a bunch of instances (discuss.online, lemmy.world, programming.dev, etc.)

[–] Ategon@programming.dev 4 points 8 months ago

Weird, might need to raise that as an issue on the lemmy repo

Only ones left on the 0.18 versions are beehaw and blahaj

Theres a lot more users that dont even vote as well

For programming.dev currently we have~ 1.2k MAU. Including people who have an account but dont vote or comment we get closer to 2k. And then including people who dont have an account we get much higher (~ 80k per day but that includes crawlers and bots)

Current estimation is around 200 dollars a month. All these small sites im spinning up barely add anything since the usage is negligible compared to something like lemmy. The production server takes up most of the costs out of that amount and then sendgrid costs some

Donations cover ~ 41% of that currently

In terms of time its been taking up most of my free time to set all this up + help develop sublinks

Thanks, creator pushed out a fix so updated to that

Not in lemmys current markdown system

Can theoretically be parsed and embedded though but can't control all frontends people use

Only thing that works atm is linking to it

We have another site more oriented towards images and text and then linking those at files.programming.dev but its limited to admins. e.g. of something on that http://files.programming.dev/u/9jsOS3.md

Blocking doesn't help if they just make new accounts each time

And yes there was a lot for awhile and now there's also spam on images from the mastodon side that's been coming in

It's only image posts and its not all posts with a picture, just if the user has basically no posts

Yeah both lemmy.world and us have the same alternate frontends at the same subdomains (apart from voyager in which they went for m for mobile and we did v for voyager)

Links for all four of them

Some trolls post csam which is why this is currently remove everything rather than handle afterwards since I would rather not let our users see csam. If you get a bit of activity in your account that handling goes away and usually ill restore the post a bit after if I see the automod has removed It but looks like you reposted

Sure ill add community handling to the exception list

Pretty nice tutorial by Lukky

Its Monday so we're continuing on with the daily questions of the day!

Thanks everyone who helped out! We've got some of our communities who built some stuff in the area and some other people that got incorporated into the dark theme corner

Was a bit of a rush to get things done since I didn't know the event existed until it was already underway but happy with what was done in the time. If anyone wants to team up to make a big artwork next year between our communities feel free to reach out to me. I'll be doing some planning ahead of time to prep

See if you can recognize any communities from the logos over by the P.D text!

Lemmy Place Event (programming.dev)
submitted 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) by Ategon@programming.dev to c/meta@programming.dev

toast.ooo has hosted a place event for lemmy for the weekend! You can go to https://canvas.toast.ooo and log in using your lemmy account (a bot will send a code to your dms which you can use to verify yourself on the site)

I've started making a programming.dev logo over on the left. Feel free to help out with structure or making something for your community nearby. Theres already c/rust that made a little drawing. Ive been freehanding the looks but aiming to get 5x5 logos of different communities around the p.d text

Will last for the weekend and pixel cooldown is 30 seconds (with it being able to stack up to 6 pixels to place down at once with the stacked ones having a 1 min 30 sec cooldown)

Going to start doing daily questions of the day here about misc game development topics. Probably also going to start some over in !game_design@programming.dev as well

For today heres a question about which tools & software you find essential

Welcome to feedback friday, this is just a thread where you can ask for some feedback on something you might be working on related to game development

Haven't been running these for a bit due to some issues with my laptop but will start running them weekly again. Theres also going to be screenshot Saturday happening tomorrow

If you want some feedback on some art, a game track, a game trailer, a mechanic, the design of something, etc. feel free to post it here
