I think Russia wouldn't attack the EU if we collectively agreed to maintain good relationships with Russia, as was the case for the past 30 years until EU+US pushed NATO boundaries to Russia and started executing Maidans in the former Russian sphere of influence. That's not to absolve the Russian government, they're fascist imperialist pieces of shit, but my point is that so is Europe (e.g. funding genocide in Gaza), and I don't want another inter-imperialist war like WW1

Yes, to postpone as much as possible the war between the 100-year-old industrial power that was Germany, and the 10-year-into-industrialization USSR. This was done after the Soviets were consistently denied mutual defense agreements with Poland, England and France, in which Stalin offered to send ONE MILLION soldiers to France and Poland to defend against the Nazi threat (together with artillery, tanks and aviation). The Soviets even offered to collectively start war against the Nazis instead of the Munich agreements in defense of Czechoslovakia, which the western powers again refused. It was then and only then when the Soviets changed the previous minister and put Molotov in place, to postpone the inevitable war against the Nazis for as long as possible during the key industrialisation years.

Surely the European weapons and troops didn't kill anyone during the Vietnam war, or the Korean war, or in colonies in Africa such as Algeria, or in the Gulf war, or in Yugoslavia, or the bombing of Libya, or in Afghanistan, or in Iraq, or very recently in Gaza.

East Germany was denazified to a much higher degree than west Germany. Half of the fucking embassies of West Germany were run by Nazis, and some NATO generals literally took part in the SS. Soviets lost 25 million lives to Nazism, they were much, much more stringent with Nazism than western Europe.
