Yeah they are really busy right now, so if you want them to get seen you'll want to merge them into what is/isn't there in the github

So some people really not grasp that?

Actually, yes, the original FOSS movement had more right-libertarian roots than anything to the left, although nowadays some might see it as "common ground".

Exactly this, although both site admins need to allow it

I mean it's less bad than charging interest but much more than that is necessary and beneficial.

This then also makes me wonder how these models are going to be trained in the future. What happens when for example half of the training data is the output from previous models? How do you possibly steer/align future models and prevent compounding errors and bias? Strange times ahead.

Between this and the "deep fake" tech I'm kinda hoping for a light Butlerian jihad that gets everyone to log tf off and exist in the real world, but that's kind of a hot take

I think what sites have been running into is that it's difficult to tell what is and is not AI-generated, so enforcement of a ban is difficult. Some would say that it's better to have an AI-generated response out there in the open, which can then be verified and prioritized appropriately from user feedback. If there's a human generated response that's higher.quality, then that should win anyway, right? (Idk tbh)

You can be the one to spin something up, but like others point out, it's a major responsibility to moderate that sort of thing.

The Russians are there in the first place because the Ukrainians have been shelling the Easterm regions since 2015, violating a ceasefire agreement. This has become more aggressive in the past couple of months. As to an invasion, I can not speak to that.

English language media induces some level of doubt, but Russia has been pretty clear about what the stakes are. Ukraine needs to respect the autonomy that Eastern Russian-speaking territories have demanded, and that the Ukrainian government has agreed to. Unlike the previous situation in Crimea, the Russian government does not take this lightly, even though the current situation isn't new or seeing particular developments.

In most cases a domain is going to be like .1% of your costs of running a Peertube instance tbh

I hear you, I would have put "white Americans" myself on this one if I made it (not that other English speakers or white folks are exempt from doing similarly dopey stuff like that of course)

It can be an effective tactic (not that I approve of it) if the people are already fairly close to revolting. If they aren't interested, then the sanctions just go on indefinitely for decades (Cuba) to no real political effect.
