Today I updated my missile racks and put a bunch of cluster missiles (Rattler II) on them because i remember they used to be the beast next then.

Now I notice that they often hit the target without splitting into smaller missiles. Is there something like a "minimum split distance" or just a bug about them?

I like how overwhelming the number of pips becomes when they work well! ๐Ÿ˜Ž

The bug with Rattlers is that sometimes the cluster munitions inside the missile don't get restocked. That's most likely why you see this happening.

I remember when Rattlers worked well ๐Ÿ˜ƒ and everyone was spamming them, but that was many years ago. Missiles in general started working better again in 3.18, but they're still pretty hit-or-miss. And NPCs will target and shoot them now! so Rattlers might be the way to go (too many projectiles for them to get them all).

That seems like it! They worked great just after installing them, but after restock is when they stopped clustering...

I checked the issue council and found this: https://issue-council.robertsspaceindustries.com/projects/STAR-CITIZEN/issues/STARC-1844

I'll check next time I play, it seems they are being restocked by the mini-missiles instead of the full thing.

I've been wondering this myself. They seem to work fine sometimes.

My current theories are, the further away fired the more likely they split, might be affected by server tick, could be to do with resupply.
