as far as I am aware there is no work around to avoid community guidelines or whatever by using "/s" on lemmy. some of the instances have strong moderation so don't expect you can just do whatever you want and be welcomed everywhere.

Well of course. No disagreement that rules and mods have to exist. But after a couple of months of seeing Reddit's /r's that I liked becoming shit/shutting down and my enjoyment of the site going down equally, the ban for a post not too far from my regular sarcastic commentary made me think "Know what, I'm done here."
