It'd be even better if all of the competition didn't come with Windows.

If only we had competition in default operating systems...

I'll be surprised to see it for sale less than 1000 euros/dollars/quid, let alone being able to get one new for less than 400.. steamdeck is ridiculously affordably priced.

Do not want. I find most Lenovo products do not last.

That’s not a Lenovo product, the ThinkPads that actually last were built by IBM. These new thinkpads die after 2-3 years of heavy use too

I've been running a t430 for 6 years now, and all of my customers are running much newer machines. Their reliability is still undisputed. Out of everything else on the market, nothing from the other big names holds a candle.

I guarantee Lenovo's steam deck will be 1) hot garbage and 2) Carry some variation of Think or Pad in the name. It will be a crime.

Very good chance. The rest of their stuff is trash. And if you asked the Thinkpad line to stand on it's own merits rather than compared to the rest of the market, it would fall flat.

who isnt expect an apple one too

[–] some_guy@kbin.social 4 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Yeah I bet the way Apple would do it is to remove the controller and make it all touch-screen. More real-estate for viewing that way. I’m thinking like a 10.9” screen with little/no bezel. They can probably compete with the highest-tier steamdeck in price that way, if they can get it around $550.

Then they can sell extra proprietary peripherals too, like an apple controller. The apple way

You've just described an iPad, but sold cheaper

[–] some_guy@kbin.social 2 points 1 year ago

Spoiler alert: it’s the price for iPad Air.

Seems unlikely IMO. Any such device would necessarily run some variant of iOS, which would mean it could only run the comparatively narrow selection of games from the App Store. Not many such games are really "asking" to be played on a Deck-esque form factor.

Apple arcade + ps5 controller + ipad

Its probably what apple would say.

Like all Lenovo laptops, the users will put Linux on it anyways.

I'm such a fanboy that I will buy it if it's think branded. I will sell a car to afford it if I have to.

I am subscribed to too many similar communities. I have seen this article so many times over the past two days.
