Rules (2024-08-30)

  1. This is an English-language community. Comments should be in English. Posts can link to non-English news sources when providing a full-text translation in the post description. Automated translations are fine, as long as they don't overly distort the content.
  2. No links to misinformation or commercial advertising. When you post outdated/historic articles, add the year of publication to the post title. Infographics must include a source and a year of creation; if possible, also provide a link to the source.
  3. Be kind to each other, and argue in good faith. Don't post direct insults nor disrespectful and condescending comments. Don't troll nor incite hatred. Don't look for novel argumentation strategies at Wikipedia's List of fallacies.
  4. No bigotry, sexism, racism, antisemitism, dehumanization of minorities, or glorification of National Socialism.
  5. Be the signal, not the noise: Strive to post insightful comments. Add "/s" when you're being sarcastic (and don't use it to break rule no. 3).
  6. If you link to paywalled information, please provide also a link to a freely available archived version. Alternatively, try to find a different source.
  7. Light-hearted content, memes, and posts about your European everyday belong in !yurop@lemm.ee. (They're cool, you should subscribe there too!)
  8. Don't evade bans. If we notice ban evasion, that will result in a permanent ban for all the accounts we can associate with you.
  9. No posts linking to speculative reporting about ongoing events with unclear backgrounds. Please wait at least 12 hours. (E.g., do not post breathless reporting on an ongoing terror attack.)

(This list may get expanded when necessary.)

We will use some leeway to decide whether to remove a comment.

If need be, there are also bans: 3 days for lighter offenses, 14 days for bigger offenses, and permanent bans for people who don't show any willingness to participate productively. If we think the ban reason is obvious, we may not specifically write to you.

If you want to protest a removal or ban, feel free to write privately to the mods: @federalreverse@feddit.org, @poVoq@slrpnk.net, or @anzo@programming.dev.

The proposed law text is posted on the Vkontakte page of a church in Severodvinsk. Churches in Novodvinsk and Arkhangelsk are also collecting signatures aimed at the regional assembly to take action and adopt a new anti-abortion law.

It should not be allowed to propagate abortion, and it should not be allowed to assist with termination of pregnancy anywhere in the Arkhangelsk region, the proposed law text suggest.

In social media, the church has posted a banner of an unborn baby side-by-side with a young child dressed up in combat uniform:

"Protect me today, I can protect you tomorrow. Abortion is murder," the text reads.

Russia’s intensified campaigns against abortion follows Vladimir Putin’s decision to declare 2024 “the Year of the Family.”

More blood to the blood god!

[–] uis@lemm.ee 5 points 12 hours ago

Orthodox Church at it. Again.

For context: unlike USSA, here in former USSR country banning abortions is VERY unpopular, I don't think any amount of yachts can achieve this. Their real goal seeme to be removal of abortion from goverment clinics.

Nah, they were doing long before.

Even in soviet Russia, women were allowed autonomy over their own bodies. Abortion wasn't banned.

*except 1936(during Stalin)-1955(2 years after his death)

[–] gamer@lemm.ee 10 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

So who are they planning to invade next ~18 years from now?

[–] uis@lemm.ee 1 points 12 hours ago

Kiril's ass by Pu. Or Pu's ass by Kiril. Frog, snake, who cares?

[–] missandry351@lemmings.world 4 points 18 hours ago

So Soviet Russia wasn’t so bad when compared to this

Image: the actual equipment your son will get.

From the womb to the cradle. From the cradle to the trench.

The russian life.

[–] Naevermix@lemmy.world 3 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

From the trench to being scattered across a ukrainian field.

But hey, at least their mother received some household appliance to remember them by.

[–] Dutczar@sopuli.xyz 2 points 11 hours ago

I don't get the intention there. The article says itself that meat grinder means the same thing in terms of soldiers as it does in English. How did they think this is anything else than an insult?

[–] uis@lemm.ee 1 points 12 hours ago

And then it got worse.

[–] dumblederp@aussie.zone 12 points 1 day ago (1 children)

The Russians I've met don't want to improve the world, they want to drag everyone down to their level of misery.

[–] HK65@sopuli.xyz 39 points 1 day ago (2 children)

The Russians I've met were good, honest, creative and friendly people. That said, all the Russians I've met have left Russia.

[–] Gloria@sh.itjust.works 17 points 1 day ago (3 children)

The russians I've met also left Russia and now live in germany and watch russia state TV and vote AFD.

and vote

Hard to belive.

[–] tischbier@feddit.org 2 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

That’s good to know even if anecdotal. Damn shame. My brother was born in Kostroma. I can’t imagine getting out, choosing to indoctrinate myself, and then voting for the party that hates Ausländers. Thanks for sharing.

[–] HK65@sopuli.xyz 6 points 1 day ago

My point is, give people a chance at beating the stereotype.

[–] dumblederp@aussie.zone 7 points 1 day ago* (last edited 19 hours ago)

The ones I met were proud of hurting people at martial arts training in Thailand. Motherfucker, it's training!

[–] regrub@lemmy.world 60 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Will this campaign also provide complimentary meat grinders to mothers?

[–] jeena@piefed.jeena.net 19 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Anyone who is or was a parent knows how much work it is to bring up even one human being to then throw away all this work for nothing, not very compelling. Rather would I spent my time at the beach.

[–] HK65@sopuli.xyz 5 points 1 day ago (2 children)

In undeveloped countries, children are free workforce, and birth control is not abundantly available.

[–] dumblederp@aussie.zone 2 points 19 hours ago

They also tend to have more kids with the expectation that they may lose a few.

[–] captain_aggravated@sh.itjust.works 2 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

Is or was Russia a developed country?

[–] HK65@sopuli.xyz 2 points 12 hours ago

The western areas are, the eastern areas are not, in broad strokes.

They are only conscripting the undeveloped areas.

[–] meldrik@lemmy.wtf 15 points 1 day ago (2 children)

How low can a country sink lol

[–] uis@lemm.ee 2 points 12 hours ago

And then it got worse.

I think "gassing jews at industrial scale" is the deepest nadir known to political science.

[–] Akong@lemmy.world 12 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Why would the picture on the right not be an adult? That seems lile much better optics and propaganda.

That's the age where he's strong enough to physically lift a rifle. That's good enough for the state.

[–] MuAraeOracle@real.lemmy.fan 13 points 1 day ago

The truth must have slipped through the cracks, they know that kids born today will be required on the front lines in about 5-8 years.

[–] DonAntonioMagino@feddit.nl 6 points 1 day ago (2 children)

I doubt a foetus can hold an AK74.

[–] Spacehooks@reddthat.com 1 points 10 hours ago

I remember a galerians ash where they gave fetuses mech suits. Man it was demented.

[–] GenosseFlosse@feddit.org 4 points 1 day ago* (last edited 18 hours ago)

Conscriptowitsch bulletbait can also be useful without a weapon on the Frontline.
