It’s thanks to brown fat, which your body burns to keep you warm. You make more of it with cold exposure. So you have more of it after the winter than after the summer.

Yep, I live in Canada and wanted to escape winter for a few days, so I booked a short trip in the Carribean. It only took a few seconds of walking under the sun to begin sweating and thinking "I know I came here for the heat but damn, it's so hot!"
