I would like to know if there's any (automatic) ways of translating the instances which are not my native language (English). I think many of them would be well worth participating in, or at least being able to lightly skim over.

I know many get annoyed by them, and end up filtering/blocking. I don't find myself annoyed by them or anything like that, I just feel like I'm missing out a bit. I think if there was an easier and more inclusive way to join in with these communities it would be a great benefit to the fediverse.

Photon has a setting option to integrate LibreTranslate.

I haven't played with it yet, but I would assume that does what you want. Other than third party clients or browser extensions offering translation capability, I don't think there's any native way to do that.
