I hate this stereotype. Psychopaths are often socially well adapted.

Yeah, serial killers have to be disarming enough to pursue victims while not giving off too many social signals that they're responsible for killing multiple people.

Certain other types of socially challenged, outcast and or depressed hateful criminals might fit the description a lot better.

Do you have any hobbies? (other than the serial killing of course...)

[–] HerrVorragend@lemmy.world 13 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I do have a nice knife collection

[–] phorq@lemmy.ml 14 points 1 year ago (1 children)

You call that a knife collection? This is a knife collection: 🥄🥄🥄

[–] dunz@feddit.nu 10 points 1 year ago (1 children)

That's not a knife collection, that's a spoon collection.

I see you've played Knifey Spoony before.

Literally besides movies/ videogames it's running in the woods... Ya know like a serial killer. I have to do everything in my power to make women know I'm not chasing them down. Avoid eye contact, earbuds in, wide berth

Become the greatest of threats the serial killer killer!

Step one: Run through woods with axe

Step two: Find someone unfazed by said action

Step three: Stalk them

Step four: Explain to forest services why you are infact not insane

Step five: Go to jail anyways

Step six: Get out if jail

Step seven: Repeat until change in results

I could easily go outside and randomly shoot some strangers, but there's also a chance that I'd have to talk to some of those strangers, so I'll pass.

[–] samus12345@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

But then you'd be a spree killer, not a serial killer.

[–] AeonFelis@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

Well, obviously. If you want to be a serial killer you can't do that - you have to spend all your time alone at home.

[–] zeppo@lemmy.world 13 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Not this guy, he was married, a Cub Scout leader and very active in his local church.

[–] The_Mike_Drop@lemmy.world 12 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Maybe I'M a serial killer.... of breakfast cereals that is!

[–] crowbar@lemm.ee 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

"The world doesnt owe you anything!!!"

-Idiots

When that is the case, and we act like it in the US, then the reverse is also true, and you owe no allegiance or decency to the society that punches down at you.

Maybe if humanity made it our priority to care for one another instead of working against one another to "win" a bigger pile of capital than the other guys, we wouldn't have as many killers.

But that will never happen, and we won't ever take responsibility as societies for the monsters we create through our apathy and sociopathy.

When there's a school shooting, I feel like I'm the only person who feels for the shooter kid who had no friends and abusive/neglectful parents. No one gave a shit about that kid until he snapped. That isn't just the immediate parents job, that is society's job to prevent. That is the parents of the kids that picked on them's fault, that is our underfunded social services' fault, that is all of our faults.

Honestly I'm surprised we don't have more. Everyone has a breaking point, and our society is all about exploiting people to theirs for private profit, and then throwing them away when they're no longer effective capital batteries.
