Occasionally I will have sound problems until I switch the HDMI port I am using connecting to on my TV. That may help if your TV has multiple HDMI ports.

I think it is something to do with the how the Xbox interacts with the TV.
For something so expensive you think it would at least work properly. From googling it seems this has been a problem for a while for many.
Never had sound issues. Do you use a headset or monitor for the sound output?
Are you using HDMI? Are both ends plugged in fully? Have you tried a different cable?
