  1. Keep it civil.
  2. No memeposts/shitposts. Memes are great but direct them to grimdank.
  3. Please mark any posts containing realistic nudity or realistic excessive gore/violence as NSFW; this rule mainly applies to cosplay and realistic drawings rather than miniatures. Being that 40k is inherently violent, this is a judgement call, and mods may occasionally request posters add tags.

Pretty wild. When they announced Primaris this is what I thought they were going to do, but then after two full editions of old/new marines living together I'd assumed they'd given up on that idea. So many classics are heading out...

Land Speeder was my first 40k mini and like it or not, it still holds its own and remains a decent design. Toy-like, but not childish, unlike baby holder exosuits or pram-buggies. Clearly Warhammer, but looks somewhat plausible unlike abominations like Stormhawk.

A sad day indeed, I still don't understand why they didn't just do a redesign instead of the whole Primaris thing.

The miniatures for the Horus Heresy are great, so updating old kits with new ones could have worked really well.

I came here to say the same thing. The primaris range does not feel like space marines. They’re great, but the Rhino, predator and land speeder are iconic.

Space marines using flyers tank is heresy.

I have no problem with the new models, sure some of it isn't my kind of thing but that has always been the case.

For me one of the big draws of 40k was the empire in decline narrative. Ancient technology being kept alive by techno-priests, the fact that most of the technology is irreplaceable, the emperor who created these super humans is a corpse so this is what we have. It isn't going to get better. Primaris marines sort of shit all over that.

I won't be buying any, but fair play to folks who do. Hobbies are about what you enjoy, not what other folks will.

This is disappointing. I collect a firstborn Deathwatch army, and there are a couple of units in this list that I had planned on adding to my collection, specifically bikers, and a land speeder storm.

I'm same, except I already bought and assembled 😢

I like that they explicitly called out using them to proxy newer units, I'll definitely be fielding my "outriders" and "storm speeders" after meticulously kitbashing. This is almost as good as what I think everyone wanted in the first place: unit refreshes instead of codex bloat.

Wait, they're getting rid of Scouts entirely? That seems weird. Perhaps they'll get a replacement in the new reveals, but if not, that's a big departure.

My bet is we see Primaris Scouts introduced in a Kill Team box soon, but yeah such a departure.

[–] dazpaints@warhammer.social 3 points 1 year ago

@vladmech @OnlyAwfulNamesLeft that’s a popular rumor currently circulating. The GW article did mention most retiring units have analogues with Primaris, so new scouts does seem highly likely!

I'm surprised that the Chaplin isn't on the list for cuts.

I expect that, deviator, and tactical squads to get cut next edition. That would leave only Centurions and Vetren Vanguard squad as the only first born marines.
