I really liked the colors and use of light in the forest scene,.. all those drab, grayish-greenish-blueish colors, the soft yellow glow of the lantern (and particular liked the ones where you see that glow spread out horizontally), the shots of the characters looking down backlit by the moon (especially liked the one with tsugaru and rindo), and that ending shot with tsugaru and rindo backlit with that lens flare (and then the monogatari-speed text flashes but also way less text than monogatari).

I wasn't expecting a whodunit. This is an interesting so far.

The body-less jokes are getting a bit cringy.

So we got Sherlock Holmes esque series. 1 episode was giving different vibes. Draging the mystery for 3 episodes isn't good for weekly releases. Classic TV detecive series works by solving one mystery per episode. For 2 episode also could work. Like we are given a bunch of clues in one episode and a solution in the next. The whole tension of mystery isn't working.

Pacing is off for me. Like right now we know that murderer is that vampire hunter that was killed in self defense, but in next episode we expect that we will get a plot twist.

Now that you mention it, I kind of smell a distubring possibility of a Kyokou Suiri S1 happening to this show's pacing as well. To those unaware, the show is a very similar supernatural detective show, one which started strong with two episodic plots and then squandered ten whole episodes on one mystery at an absolutely glacial pace. S2 was paced massively better with the longest mysteries being at most 4 episodes (and this time having an amount of twists actually justifying the length), feeling a lot better.

I really really hope this show wraps up the case quickly in the next episode and then throws in something new, but I have a fear it may also be heading towards a "season finale" case taking up half the season (perhaps with one shorter case in between for padding), and if that's going to happen with the pacing we're currently seeing, that is going to be a painful watch. I hate to be pessimistic about the show because I had such a good first impression of it and am really liking the concept and characters so far.

This episode was clearly better than the other two.
