@cloudsheep0 I wonder if the game will be playable on the Steam Deck.

Hopefully my fingers are crossed

The Steamdeck gpu is roughly equivalent of a GTX 1050 and the minimum GPU requirement is a GTX 960 for 720p 30fps.

I'm going to say it will probably play fine, maybe not a solid 60fps but you might get a good 40fps.

@EvilMonkeySlayer https://store.steampowered.com/app/1593500/God_of_War/ specs says minimum GTX 960 too and the game is verified for Steam Deck. Looks like they categorize the Steam Decks GPU power in the range of 960 it seems. I guess with the help of FSR we might hit 40 then.

Devs can reduce the load for the GPU, but its much harder to do that for CPU (I think), without altering some game logic. I'm suuper curious to how this will play out.

The CPU of the Steamdeck is respectable. It's vastly better than the anaemic CPU of the PS4.

DF did a video a bit ago basically saying can we get it to something comparable to the Xbox Series S?

[–] thingsiplay@kbin.social 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

@EvilMonkeySlayer Well it has approx. half the power of the Series S CPU, game is played with lower settings and resolution (which helps with CPU, not just the GPU) and aims for lower FPS. So "comparable" is a relative term here. Maybe its close to the CPU power of a One X?

Both the One X and PS4 CPU's are of an older anaemic Jaguar generation.

@EvilMonkeySlayer I know. I am not talking about the architecture type, but how fast it can work. Hence why I wrote >> Well it has approx. half the power << and >> comparable is a relative term here <<

The One X CPU is basically a slightly faster PS4 CPU. The Steamdeck is of the same generation architecture as the Series CPU. It has a lower core count but should still easily outperform something like the One X CPU.
