Tolerance of intolerance breeds intolerance. It’s well past time to be ‘nice’ to Nazi Fascist fucks. No tolerance for bigots.

Absolutely. If someone is being openly fash, please report them so we can remove them.
But I've seen a lot of really heated infighting where people were treating others in bad faith. Let's not do that.
You're not wrong. But this is Beehaw, where we yeet them with prejudice
thank you.
First and foremost, thank you all for being a part of this wonderful place. You're all part of my extended chosen family - family that doesn't always see eye to eye on everything but knows that we'll have each other's backs instead of putting them to the wall.
Secondly, step away from the chats and the doom to do something positive for yourself in your space, or do something to re-orient yourself. Despair and gloom blunt your efficacy communicating and organizing, and mutual care and aid like we have here on Beehaw are going to be more important than ever.
The people who tell you to be civil aren't going to help you on the line, generally. Unless its one of those fake protests like The March for Science.
Don't let people who aren't going to help you tell you how to behave.
This is a good reminder. Thanks.
Honestly, I'd love to see a month-long pause on discussing the presidential race itself.
State-level stuff, ballot measures, etc, no problem, but IMO there's not going to be any productive discussion of the presidential race right now; there's still too little information, too many emotions, etc.
That aside, (because that's not the kind of thing that should happen without the community agreeing to it) I know that I'm probably part of the problem because Politics is where I tend to comment the most, and I'm going to stick to discussions of what to do next rather than wasting any more energy on litigating what went wrong at this point.
I have my suspicions about what happened, but that's all they are as of right now, same as anyone else. But I do know for sure that I'm pissed off, and I know that I'm not going to be able to keep it from affecting how I engage with people if we get into an argument.
I'm just glad we all have this community, because it's definitely an anchor-point for me right now (and thank you, mods, for all your work maintaining it).
note: i've proposed this to the community mods, if we think it's a good idea (i think it is, and i'd like to enforce it asap) it'll go into effect soon.
Would love to see you start posts and discussions about what next! I've personally been really energized by all the activity I've been seeing in activism, queer, and anarchist groups since the election results were clear.
Same here! We are the same people as we were before the election, and our mutual aid networks will be that much more important now, so it's time to make a more robust connection with others. Thank you for focusing on what we can control and how we can shape the future to what we want it to be!
None of us are human so most of this won't apply to us. However, it may be bad timing and correlation not causation.
The reasons for anyone or anymany to step up or ramp up their non acceptance of anything that looks bad may not have anything to do with the election in the US and could be purely from personal growth or a myriad of other factors and this is important to remember too.
