People have been launching big shells since 1900, way before space stuff.

Apart from the pure gameplay balance aspect, the artillery cannons are made from tungsten alloys to make them wear resistant. Earth has naturally occuring tungsten, Nauvis doesn't. :)

You complain about artillery being locked behind space. I complain about cliff explosives being locked behind space. We are not the same.

Lol I get the meme reference, but I think we are the same. Wtf why are these locked behind launching a rocket to space?!

For gameplay. Why is logistics locked behind space science? It's to get you to experience the game without it until you unlock it, and it changes the way you think. It makes unlocking these things feel rewarding and totally game-changing.

I've honestly loved not having cliff explosives. I'm going to use them when I unlock them, but my rails are so much more organic now. They're almost all single-lane rails going to resources, with a few side-tracks for longer distances. It's like how rails are in real life, because demolishing everything in your path is expensive.

I think an ideal feature to add is an easy way to do parallel tracks. That's the next rail feature we need. Whether that's used to make sidetracks easier or to do full two-Lane rails, it'd be so nice to have. I would hardly care about cliff explosives if we had this.

Fortunately, with Space Age, Nauvis pollution becomes less of a problem as you have more and more of your manufacturing being done on other planets.

this makes defending the base quite labor-intensive, but you don't get attacked often before the space age.

Unless you toot around like me, and your flamers start getting more active, then suddenly your pollution spans the entire continent

Because if you're gonna do artillery, you're gonna do it right ;p
