This is already how papers operate they just normally rely on their hiring and firing power to craft an editorial board aligned with the owner so the owner can pay as much or little attention as they'd like to and still get an outcome favorable to them.

Bezos walking into the room and going, "do this instead" isn't even odd, my local newspaper had that same thing happen 8 years ago and nobody really cared. I mean, they wrote articles and said they cared, but subscriptions rose.
